Feeling down....

I had lost around 10 lbs initially, but it has been slipping back on me...AND i am trying to watch what I eat. I've even been doing exercises 5 days a week. Which I used to never do. I am getting so frustrated that I ate everything I wanted today, I'm sure the scale and I will NOT be friends this week! I have to get back on my diet/healthy eating plan tomorrow!
I guess I need to try harder. I am one of those people that after having kids I've been blessed (NOT) with a lovely metabolism. I can LOOK at food and gain weight. It is so difficult for me to lose weight, it seems like if I eat 3500 calories a day or 1500 I have the same results, and that is staying at the same weight I have been. I also get irritated seeing super thin people pigging out. I dont' want to offend anyone, but have some friends that brag about how much they eat and are stick thin. I hate to feel like, "why me?", but at times I do.
I guess it doens't help that lately my mom has lost quite a bit of weight and is constantly saying what size of clothes she wears and kind of rubbing it in. I never was the biggest one in the family, but now I am! I guess at least she is happy, it seems like it would be motivating for me, but it just depresses me. Don't get me wrong I am VERY happy that she has lost weight and know it is good for her health, I just could live without the rubbing it in part. LOL! I have told her numerous times that she looks good etc. I guess she is in a sort fishing for compliments...?
I'm sorry that this is so long and I know I'm rambling, but I felt like if I wrote it and got it out of my system I'd feel better, and I do somewhat....
Hugs to all of you.

I've learned the hard way*, that PERMANENT weight loss is about changing your entire lifestyle. That means permnently changing your eating habits and getting some form of exercise at least one hour per day.
The key is finding what caloric level your body needs to maintain. For example, to lose weight, I consume 1200 calories daily and work out one hour per day every day plus weights for 1/2 hour every other day. For me to maintain my goal weight and STAY there I will eat 1700 calories daily and continue with my current work out program.
What I CAN NOT do when I reach my goal weight is go BACK to eating like I did. Meaning, I can't go back to eating anything and everything at any time!
I must continue to eat fresh fruits and veggies, steamed veggies at every lunch and/or dinner, whole grains, lean meats and LEARN PORTION CONTROL. I resolved the fact that I have to watch what I eat and exercise every day for the rest of my life. Once I accept that FACT, I will attain permanent weight loss.
*What I meant by learning the hard way was, in 1995 I lost almost 60 pounds. Within 5 years I gained 40 pounds back because I went back to my old habits (no exercise, fast food, sweets, over eating, no portion control). So, for the second time in 2000 I lost 40 pounds. Well, as you can guess, in 5 years I gained 70 pounds. Again, I went back to my old habits.
Apology:
Ann, I am deeply sorry if I offended you. I didn't mean to offend you or judge you in any way. And believe me it wasn't intentional by any means. Please post again, we enjoy your company :)
I hope you are feeling better right now.
I read a bit and you said that you work out 5x a week.
What sort of exercises do you do again?
The reason why I ask is that the trainer at Curves says to us all the time that
if we are not getting our heart rate to the fat burning zone then we are just waisting our time. So we take our heart rate 2-3x during the workout to check that we are operating in the zone for our age. For me to be working at burning fat; I have to count 20-22 at the highest point of my workout on the circuit. When I start it is low like normal.
Not sure but maybe you could tell me what kinds and for how long?
Maybe I could ask the trainer. I am no expert but I figure even if you arent dieting and you are working out 30 minutes 5x a week, sweating at your range then you should be seeing some serious results! I know how frustrating it must feel to do work out and not see results. But dont despair, your little heart is getting stronger I am sure.
Hugs to you and let me know about the exercise please
