here before..it's been so long. I am a 23 year old college Mom/student/Certified Medical Assistant and I have ballooned to an uncomforable 270 lbs. from stess and laziness. I can barely walk, do my job, be with my kid. My asthma is out of control...I've been to the ER several times, I can't even sleep well...I feel like I am suffocating in fat. I want to lose about 140-150lbs. I am 5'2" so I could actually be smaller than that but looking at number bigger that 150 is just too much. I'd like to lose the bulk of the weight before I go to UF next summer and then get the rest and then some off by the time I graduate 2 years later.

I plan to lose about 10 lbs every month or a little over 2 lbs a week which I have heard is healthy.

I would welcome any suggestions about things I can buy at the supermarket to replace my fast food meals. I love dairy, fruit and meat (I don't eat pork) but my down fall is carbs. I don't want to diet I want to change my life. Any ideas? Also I plan to start slowly exercising again. Any ideas on that? I have the whole Firm Body Sculpting System, so that might help. Also thinking about joining the local gym for som "me" time.

Hello SS and welcome to the board

Congratulations on making a weight loss commitment. And it's perfectly fine not to diet. I think that we all need to follow something that we can carry out for the rest of our

I started near you at 267 when I made the full commitment to lose weight in mid-Dec. Congratulations on taking the plunge. Just do things gradually and I'm sure you will be successful.

Some of my favorites to buy are lowfat yogurt, Healthy Choice smoked turkey lunch meat, garbanzo beans, black beans, and boneless, skinless frozen chicken breasts. I also switched from white to wheat bread. I didn't do whole grain (can't get it where I live, anyway) because I felt like it would be to much. I use 1/2 c. of beans in place of cheese whenever I eat a salad as a meal with some grilled chicken. They give me some extra protein and fiber to make my meal hang in there a little longer.
