Hi all. I've been here before but lurked. I've decided to come out and meet everyone. My name is Linda. I have almost always been overweight. I'm 28 and weighed 360 as of Feb 1st. Ouch! That hurts to say out in the open. I'm 5'7" so I carry it well as well as someone can.
My weight has always bothered me as I'm sure it has done all of you ladies. However, everything I tried never seemed to work, until now. My doctor told me I have pre-diabetes and I'm to be put on medicine. That scared me a lot. I'm only 28. I don't want to die at this young age. I still have a life ahead of me. Anyways I decided that day to change my way of life. I started my going to a nutritionist. She was very helpful but there I found out my weight. Yikes! So I put into effect everything she told me and worked hard. I cut down portions, started walking (not much just a little as I can), cut carbs and fat, started drinking more water and cut out sugary foods as much as possible.
Well there is a silver lining in all this. I went back to my nutritionist March 1st and found out I had lost 24 pounds! 24 in one month. I am ecstatic and scared at the same time. I never thought I could lose anything and to think I lost that much in one month. I was floored. I'm a little scared about losing so much in such a short period of time but I think it will level itself out and hopefully I'll start losing a healthy amount. Even though I lost so much I'm starting to feel very down and needing some support. That is where all of you who braved to read my above 'book' come in. I hope to give and receive encoragement from this wonderful group of ladies.
One thing I hope to hear is any helpful hints as to what I can work in for exercise. I can't handle much because of my weight but I am trying so any hints would be appreciated.
Has anyone out there had this much weight to lose? If so how are you doing? Was it fast starting out and then slow after that?
Thanks for any help!!

Welcome to the board Linda.. and CONGRATULATIONS on the 24 pounds.. this is awesome!! I bet you are so proud of yourself.
Don't worry about losing so much at the beginning.. it is very normal to see a huge drop and things will start to slow down with time. I know that experts recommend losing 1-2 pounds a week, but this is not always the case when you have a lot of weight to begin with. For example, if you and someone else of the same height but weighed 180lbs
good luck!
