Using perscription to help?

I am getting ready to start a weight loss plan. There is no excuse anymore..not that there ever was one. Have any of you ever taken/considered taking a perscription to jump start your loss? I am too big to work out much at this point but have a few things I can do but if I could lose maybe 40 pounds I would be in the area where I could much easier work out and help myself along.
I am considering using something the doctor wants to perscribe for me just for the first 50 pounds and going from there.
I would appreciate your opinions!

I personally am not using anything. Probably mostly because I don't have health insurance currently. I did take some stuff like 5 or so years ago. It wasn't a perscription, but I would NEVER do it again. I couldn't sleep, I was shaky, and I really didn't lose a whole lot of weight. If you can get on the treadmill somewhere, and even start out walking at even 1.0 MPH, you will start to be able to up the speed eventually.
Good luck, I hope you figure out something that will work for you!
I agree with the pink lady.. drugs are not the way to go. There is no easy way out. True, it is HARD and it may HURT, it may even feel like you're gonna die. Even if you can only walk at a 1.0 MPH on the treadmill for 10 minutes before you have to rest.. that is 10 minutes you didn't move yesterday. If you steadily day by day build up your strength and your stamina you will eventually get to the level of health that you want to be. If you can't go the the gym- what about those power walking tapes.. Leslie Sanson? (I think) You can walk at your own pace, you can stop when you need to rest. Walking the block, or the park- know someone with a pool- tread water- water aerobics whatever you need to do.. start small and build on your success. you can only do 5 minutes today shoot for 6 minutes tomorrow- walk 1/2 the block and push yourself to walk the full block tomorrow- whatever it takes- keep track of how many minutes you worked out for the week and try to go another 5 minutes next week.
drink a lot of water- I aim for a gallon of water a day (just over 5 24oz bottles) it's HARD and you have to pee a lot but you're flushing your body of toxins that you've been holding on to- AND it helps fill you up AND you're not consuming empty calories ANNND you'll see a weight loss!
make healthy snack choices- fruit/ veggies/ crackers (instead of chips)/frozen yogurt instead of ice cream.
watch your portions- low/no fat doesn't mean you can eat the whole thing.
hope I didn't sound too preachy :)
if you do decide to use a 'scrip... be careful, use in moderation, any "odd feelings" get off it and be prepared to do the hard work when you do get off of it or you'll just gain it all back.. maybe more.
good luck- let us know what you decide!

Yeah I considered it a few times.. I even have a prescription for it, but didn't actually buy..
So far I don't think it's necessary for me. I'm always afraid of "artificial stuff" because you never know what the hidden side effects are.
