I am new to the board and I am hoping to make some friends here and find support. I am about 250, I haven't weighed myself in about a month so I don't know the exact weight, but overweight. My goal is to get down to 150. I need help with figureing what steps I should take first to start this process. I am sick of being this weight. I am so lazy. I desperately need to do something to help myself. Anyone have suggestions on where to start?
Tina

Hello, it is nice to meet you. I am new as well. I think a food journal is a good place to begin, well at least it was for me. I was able to see where I was using all of my calories and at what times I was eating the most. Then I was able to make small changes. It has only been a month but I feel like I am making good progress. Just don't be too hard on yourself if you don't seem to be doing as good as you would like to be doing. Small changes will add up to big ones and before you know it the pounds will come off. I hope this helped a little.

welcome to the board.. I'm new today as well.. I agree with the first lady start small! You didn't gain weight overnight so it's not going to come off overnight.
I think looking at it as going from 250 down to 150 can seem like a unreachable Goal. Maybe start with smaller goals- like 10 or 20 lbs at a time.
try to make healthier choices- water instead of soda or other drinks with empty calories. Fruit/veggies for snacks instead of junk food. try to bring lunch instead of opting for fast food/processed foods.
exercise 3-4 times per week or more.. even if you think.. god I don't feel like it today- work out for 10 mins.. if at that point you still don't feel like working out any longer- stop, but chances are you'll want to continue. If ya don't at least you got 10 mins of extra movin in and you don't feel so bad about slacking.
don't beat yourself up about slips and indulgences, but also don't blow it off like it was nothing. realize what happened and why (stressed, bored, frustrated, not enough hours in the day) deal with it, commit to stay the path you've been on, and move on. 1 slip or indulgence doesn't mean you've failed- letting yourself fall and stay in your old unhealthy patterns is a different story.
so.. once again.. welcome to the board.. good luck and I'll be looking to reading your posts! :)

Welcome to the board Tina. We're glad to have you with us
The ladies already gave you great advice and I have nothing to add. Journaling is a great tool, and I think small lasting changes is a perfect way to lose and maintain the lost weight. Don't forget to move at your own pace.. once you're ready for a change, go for it. If exercise is a burden, start with as little as once a week and add up. If you like exercise, you can jump in full force. The secret is to find somethng that works for you and something that you will be able to do for life.
Good luck in your
