Hey Ladies.. and,if their are any men among us, gents

I'm jess

I'm 31 (soon to be 32) 5'3" and 281 lbs from st. louis mo. At first I tried the Self Magazine msg boards, but it seemed like everyone there had 10-20lbs they were trying to lose. Though any amount of weight is hard to lose, we are just at different places in our "battle of the bulge".

I remember this board from back in the day- lost 80 lbs, got complacent (lazy) and gained it all back. I know that as we age it gets harder to lose weight, we have more health problems for being overweight and I don't want to be like my father- 62yrs old, 400 +lbs, can barely walk or breathe, taking 8 different meds a day including shooting up with insulin 3 times a day and has to sleep with a breathing machine. I know that if I don't do something about my weight now that's where I'm going to end up. So here I am starting all over.. yet again.

I've started last week with the self 3 month challenge.. I'm doing pretty darned good if I don't say so myself!
I was drinking 3 ltrs of mountain dew.. a day... now I'm drinking approximately a gallon of water a day. Since March 4th I've gone to the gym 5 times (today will be 6) I've done 1/2 hr of carido, 1/2 hr of strength training and 10 mins of stretching before and after at each visit.
my biggest challenge is eating healthy- I dont' like veggies. So I've started by making sure I eat breakfast, taking my lunch- not eating any fastfood or any of the candy and junk we have at the office. I've never been able to count calories, not my thing. I'm just staying away from high fat content.

so anyway.. that's me. have a great sunday everyone I'm going shopping and to the gym!

Welcome aboard Jess... WOW!! Looks like you're off to a great start with a good plan to follow. Letting go of soda alone will make a huge difference. And congratulations on the commitment to exercise!

I'm looking forward to knowing you better. Have a great Monday!
