Hey all! I've just found this board, I expect to settle in nicely here =) I can definitely use the support from others who also have a lot to lose.
I am 26, will be turning 27 later this month. Have always been overweight. I must have tried every short cut, stopped eating (that worked a little too well), various diets and diet pills, misusing prescription drugs, etc. The only time I ever really lost weight and felt good about myself was when I was going to the gym 6 days a week and hardly eating. I tend to over do things. So this time around I want to do it sensibly - I plan to eat no more than 1600 cals a day (no working out) for a week then slowly adding cardio and weights. I sound so on top of things and smart and really, I totally know what to do, it's just doing it that's the problem. I start out so gung ho then slowly fade ... make excuses, work late, etc.
I am just so tired of this body, I am so young and have so much ahead of me, yet I don't feel as if I have ever really lived.
Argh, anyway, I wanted to say hi and I look forward to getting to know y'all better!!

Hi Ellie... I too have crashed and burned so many times before. Especially when it comes to exercise. I'll be so enthusiastic about something, and get at it every day.. then suddenly all the excitement fades and I stop. Right now I'm taking things slow. I want the habits to sink in and become part of my life. If I want to see lasting results, I know I have to change a lot in my life and change them for good. And it did take a long time to establish my poor habits and I expect to take some time before I'm able to change them.
Welcome to the board and good luck in your journey
