Hi everybody! I'm very glad that I found this message board! I am at a crossroads in my life. I feel that I can either continue the lifestyle that I've been living and watch my weight soar and soar, or I can finally get REAL, take control, and do something about it, for the sake of my health and my wellbeing and not to mention to make me a better mommy to my eight year old son. My name is Toni, I'm 25 and from Pennsylvania. I have been overweight pretty much all my life, mostly chubby throughout elementary school and middle school, but when i got pregnant I gained quite a bit of weight and was never able to lose it for good. A few years ago, I did lose forty pounds, but I immediately gained that back (plus a few) after i stopped. My current weight is 275. My goal is to be under 200. I'd love to weigh 175, but I'd be happy at 199. I haven't figured out what "diet" I'm going to follow, if any. I am thinking about just being smart about my food choices (lots of fruits, veggies, white meat, brown rice and no sodas, junk food, fast food, etc.). I'm already an avid water drinker, so that will not be hard for me, and I'm a member of curves, so I do have some sort of exersize program to get into (although I haven't been good at going three times a week, and that's something I am going to work on). I also am planning on walking again, at least two nights a week (on the off days from curves). My biggest challenge is eating out. I am in a new relationship, and our food habits, when we eat together, haven't been so good. A lot of pizza (at one time there was quite a bit of calzone but I put a quick stop to them). When we go out I try to make good choices, but I know I can do better.
There has been stress, and I am a classic stress eater. I am working on this stuff with a therapist and I'm really trying to make life changes. I guess what I want to say is that I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you all. I'm going to love the tips and the accountability that I'll have...here's to the beginning of my journey....WISH ME LUCK :)

Welcome to the board Toni and congratulations on making a commitment to lose the weight. It is great that you are already a water drinker, that's one milestone already achieved. Whether you decide on a formal diet, or decide on making smarter food choices, make sure that it is a system you can follow for life so that you don't see the weight creeping back on once you stop your "diet". Losing the weight once is more than enough LOL!
Eating out is always very hard and especially if you have someone encouraging you on the wrong choices. My husband is the same, he's a fast food junkie, but he doesn't seam to gain any weight with his bad eating habits GRRRRR. Don't expect yourself to make the best choices from now on. It took us years to gain bad eating habits and we can't be expected to change them overnight. Make smarter choices: downsize your meals, eat one less slice of pizza, skip the coke, decrease the number of times you eat out. Celebrate each victory however small it may seam.
I am looking forward to hearing about your journey. Please keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!
Hi Toni--
Welcome and good luck! It sounds like you have all the tools in place for a successful weight loss journey, and a nice, healthy attitude to keep it going. It'l be great to have you around here!

Ladies, thanks for the welcome!
I have some questions....does anyone know or have a good website to share with me that will tell me a breakdown of how many calories, fat, and carbs I should try to eat in order to lose weight...I am having trouble setting myself a goal, and I know it would be very helpful to my weightloss. At the moment, I'm trying to stick to 1500 calories or fewer. I think my carbs are too high, but I'm trying to eat as the food pyramid would recommend, a healthy balance of all foods, I don't want to restrict or cut out completely any food groups (I just don't feel that it's natural for my body).
Also, I'd love to have a weight loss ticker at the bottom of my posts as a "signature" but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set this up (I know how to get the ticker, I just don't know how to create my signature). If anyone could help me, that would be greatly appreciated.
Yesterday was my first day at eating healthier. I failed miserably. Today, I'm starting anew....wish me luck!

I usually use www.fitday.com to track my food... but as of yesterday, I discovered another site (referred by
Hello Ladies! I'm new around here, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a single mom of a 5 year old (she has a birthday in just a few days)and trying to get healthier. I'm not nessecarily trying to lose weight, but once I starting eating healthier and getting more active, I'm sure will just start dropping off. I have several bad habits I need to get ahold of and some good ones, so I just have my work cut out for me. I'd love to find a workout buddy also if anyone is in the Erie, PA area. Anyways, HI!!!!
