Have to share this one--
My SO has been unhappy with my physician (and weight) in a low-key, background way for years. So when I had a knee injury, that's probably exacerbated by my weight, and was not thrilled with the care I received-- he pounced. Set up (with my ok) an appointment with his own very responsive and altogether wonderful doctor, who's also director of the new hospital diabetes care program. I don't have diabetes, but Dr. Wonderful agreed to see me anyway, on ONE DAY'S NOTICE. Wow!
True to the hype, Dr. W addressed my concerns immediately. He called into his office his associate director, who's also in the weight management program. Dr. AW (Also Wonderful) is the sort who can lower your blood pressure just by saying "hi", and he immediately explained their program, said I was a viable candidate, and so forth. All this after 6pm, and I was so hopeful and excited and reassured and, dare I say it, motivated.
Ahem. It's now a week and a half later. I finally, after no fewer than 8 calls, was able to schedule the dietician part of this program. My schedule isn't difficult to accommodate, I just couldn't get a call back! And the psychologist who works with this program (the only one they use) doesn't accept my insurance plan AND won't take self-pay patients. I called Dr. AW to apprise him of this, a week ago, and still have not had a response. As for the rest of the program, it seems sketchier by the minute and less and less like The Answer.
I think I'll persevere, or try to at least. One of the best motivators for me is that the program is also a prerequisite for bariatric surgery, which scares me blind! So if I hit myself occasionally with the surgery stick, I should be able to use this for my own nefarious end.
But REALLY, these are professionals?

Yeah I know that type of "professionals".. give you the impression that you're their top priority.. then once you get hooked and ready to go, they disappear..
Did you hear from them yet?
