What are you doing to lose weight? I need to lose weight and am trying to choose a plan. I would like everyone's input on what they are doing and why they chose to go that route.

I am going to do it right this time!!

Hello and welcome. You will find a great group of supportive people on this board.


I follow Weight Watchers Points plan and do the exercises that are in The Biggest Loser Book. For me WW has always been successful, as long as I stick to it.Which I haven't always done, but find that the support of people like the ones here at this board definately helps me to stay on track.

(I love your screen name, by the way-- very festive!)

I'm doing a basic balanced low-calorie/low fat diet, and primarily walking for exercise... which will be adjusted as I lose weight to more active/targeted exercise.
I've done Weight Watchers points-watching in the past, and found it very effective. Just didn't stick with it.

I've recently seen a nutritionist, who tells you all those things you already know instead of the "quick fix" you wish was out there. She did have some interesting info though. Folks in the National Weight Loss Registry (who've lost 30 or more pounds and kept it off one year or longer) had their initial weight loss in all sorts of wacky or sane ways. BUT the ones who were successful in keeping it off had common traits:

They eat breakfast.

They drink their $#^#^*%^$ water every day.

They eat a low-fat diet overall.

They exercise an average of an hour a day, 6 days a week.

I talked with my dr just over a week ago about losing weight and she suggested a 1000 calorie/day plan.

Welcome to the board 2locachicas :) I love your screen name.


I've been slacking off lately, but my plan is usually to journal everything I eat and make sure I'm within 1,200 - 1,500 calories a day. I drink lots of water (I have a bottle on my desk and it is easy to sip from it all day). And I try to be active 3x a week (not a lot of success, but I'm progressing)
