Frustration

I'm feeling a little frustrated right now. Last week I lost 3 more pounds for a total of 42. Then over the weekend I gained 5 lbs. and did nothing to cause the gain. I spent all this week fighting to get it off, but still ended up with two extra for a total of 40. This seems to be happening about every other week to me now. Lose, gain, lose, gain. I know that overall I am still losing, but it is so heart breaking to go backwards even when I'm not blowing it. Any words of wisdom as to why this has started happening?

HMMM! that's very odd. I'm in no way an expert, but I've been told that your body can fluctuate +/-5lbs in a 24 hour period based on water rentention/calorie consumption. Also muscle weighs more than fat so it could be your building stronger & leaner muscles. If you're using more than one scale, those readings can vary from scale to scale. Are you keeping a food/exercise journal to note any changes in your eating/exercise patterns? I know it's hard not to focus on the numbers on the scale. But what about all of the positive things you're doing. You ARE seeing results. You know you're losing weight. Maybe try to base your success on a combination of things... the scale, measurements, are your clothes fitting better/have to go down a size, do you have more energy/able to work out harder/longer, how you feel.

also if you keep fluctuating, maybe bring it up at your next dr's visit. They may have an answer that can put you at ease :)

irreguardless you've lost 40POUNDS!! that in and of itself is an AMAZING acheivement and shouldn't be slighted. It took determination and dedication to yourself and your goals. Over the years to come there are going to be times where the scale will fall and rise with the tides, it's going to be your diligence that's going to keep you where you want to be.
You are an amazing, beautiful strong woman. You are inspiration and motivation for those who are just starting their journey.

hope this helps in some small way.

I feel your pain. I've got a wedding to go to in a couple of weeks so I've been really making a concerted effort to watch what I eat and have even been walking longer distances in addition to my workouts but still my weight doesn't seem to be budging. I'm stuck at 232lbs. It's so depressing.

I don't blame you a bit for being frustrated, and I'd venture to say that most of us have gone through the same thing at one point or another.

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement! I'm really feeling better about things today. Yesterday I did my one day semi detox and that always gets me focused. I've lost those nasty two pounds again, so I'm back on track (I hope). I would like to lose another 8 by my birthday in three weeks for a total of 50. That's really pushing it, so if it doesn't happen, that's okay. I'm also trying to mix things up a bit in the exercise department by taking an abs class once a week. Just something new to keep my body on its toes! Thanks for all your support when I needed it!
