Hey everyone! I'm new to this board. I've been here before, but just now got to posting. Ok, I'm 5'11'' and I weight about 282. I went shopping yesterday and OMG..i'm in a size 24! This has upset me so bad! I don't even feel like leaving the house. I don't look that obese..but I am. I mean I LOOK like a size 18. I'm just so blah right now because I have lost weight before. I've lost 90lbs...gained it back....45lbs...gained it back..get the picture? Lately i've been eating healthy and i'm not losing anything! I'm having my thyroid checked out tomorrow. Although, my last blood test indicated it was normal. Anyways I've considered looking into gastric bypass, since my bmi is at 40, but I don't think this is for me. Now, I've taken phentermine (rx) before and done well on it. My question is do you or have you taken any rx or over the counter diet pills that have worked? If so what and what was the results? Thanks everyone!!

Yes I tried that metabolife or whatever it was called a long time ago with no success, they pulled that one off the shelf. It raised my heart rate way too high and I icouldn't continue it so that might be why it didn't work but that was just too dangerous. I have tried green tea extract(last year) for hunger control and it helped with that but I never really lost any weight cuz when I did eat I ate all the wrong things.
SO I haven't had a lot of good experience with them. Whatever you decide I wish you a lot of luck.

Hello I am new 2 well sorta been here a long time ago but I am in the same boat.
I weighed in at 255 and a size 20 I feel horrible about it and 2 1/2 weeks ago
I started my diet(lowfat and calories)to try and hopefully do something about it.
Summer is around the corner and that means shorts(YUCK!)and I like to take my
kids places and actually have energy to do things with them instead of sitting and
watching!
I think my main motivation is looking at all the pictures that have been taking of me
in the last 2 years I see myself way bigger in them than I do in the mirror.
I to dont look like 255 when I told my hubby he was shocked and thought I weighed
right around the 200 mark.I do weigh 235 now I have lost 20 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks
I am sure 1/2 of it is water loss but I have been making myself go for 2-3 mile walks
every night when the sun goes down and it does make me feel better.Anyway good luck to you and keep posting to let us know how your doing.

please down beat your self down about your weight.i'm in the same boat as you i to wear a 24 but dont look it .people think i'm lying when i tell them my size. i've had the gastric bypass surgery and as weirld as it may sound you have the same struggles with the bypass as if you did'nt you just get alittle assistence as i call it with the surgery you still have to watch what you eat cause you cant eat alot.but some do go back to there old way's and gain it all back. not me so far so good.but if your thinking about this surgery please!please!make sure you do your homework.cause not everyone comes out of it all weight drop.look at carney wilson she gained but it was cause she had a baby.but my point is be careful.everything that looks good to you ;aint for you!so do your homework before going for the surgery and if it's surely what you want then go for it! i'll be here for moral support as a member myself !i'm just worried that your giving up to quickly.but you do have good outcomes of this surgery, i'm a example of that but then you also have your bad side of this some people die from this surgery.i'm not trying to scare you from doing it had health issues myself which is why i got it.but trust me i did my homework and i knew the risks! so please be careful and let me know what you decide i'll be there for moral support if you get it cause trust methe first 3 month's your going to need someone to talk to even if it's a support group and they have them.good luck!

I went to my pcp and she actually recommended that I look into gastric bypass. So as of right now I'm learning more about this. I've been gaining weight lately and it's scaring me. I mean I'm not eating any differently.

Hi there! Welcome to the board! You'll find ALOT of support here. I come here everyday even if I don't post because I know I'll always find something motivating. Here is my experience with diet pills. I've never taken anything prescription. So I don't know anything about them. From 1999 to mid-2002 I took an ephedra supplement. I lost LOTS of weight with that. I was pretty sporadic with it until late 2001 to early 2002 when I really started dropping the weight. I went from roughly 290 to about 215 from mid-December '01 to July '02. Yes it worked very quick and very well but I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. I was so dumb. I even visited the ER two times over taking the stuff. I think they've pulled it from all the shelves anyway. As you can see by my being here I've gained it all back. I'm now at 293. I've tried Dexatrim and even water pills that are OTC, but all they did was scare me b/c I was so jittery all the time. Didn't lose any weight either. Now I'm actually down to 293 from about 312. I had my daughter last year and I gained alot of weight while pregnant. I've been eating 6 mini meals everyday and working out on my elliptical machine. I want to start walking the track as soon as the weather gets better here too. I've recently read about a new supplement called Hoodia. I don't know if you've heard of it or not. Anyway, I take it along with my better eating habits and exercise. It really helps with cravings. There is nothing harmful in it such as caffeine or ephedra of course. The only side effect I've noticed in the last month or so I've been taking it is that it makes your stomach feel overly full by the time you get half way through your meal. My hoodia supplement has just hoodia, cocoa extract, and green tea extract. I got it at Wal-Mart for like $13. That's pretty much the safest thing out there, so if you're gonna take something maybe try that. If you have any type of health problems you may need to talk to your doc first. I've found it to be wonderful. Anyway I really hope that

Yeah, its done really well with me. I tend to be a binge eater so I know there has to be something to it.

Here is exactly what the label says: South African HOODIA Gordonii 500 complex -
and on the bottle it also says "Hoodia sourced from the African continent" From everything I've read, thats how you're supposed to know that it really is Hoodia and not just fillers. Hoodia comes from South Africa.
