Can I join this board?

I'm down to about 70# left to go.

I'm ready to get serious, because my weight is really causing some health concerns, arthritis, plantar fasciitis/heel spurs, etc.

I'm beginning on an anti-diet approach, basically learning to eat what's best for my body & listen to my body, as well as to actually DO the exercises for my feet and back.

TIA

Hi! Welcome! You'll really like this board alot! I have about 71 pounds to go on my first goal. I've really been motivated lately. I know in my heart that this is just something I'm going to do as a lifestyle now. So you could say that you and I are on the same "plan".

Glad to have you! I'm basically doing the same thing you are, just trying to live healthier and make better choices. So far I've lost more weight this way than on any fad diet or diet pills I've ever taken. Good luck to you!

Welcome aboard!!!! I wish you the best of luck!! You are right not to think of this as a diet, that word will drive you mad. I am watching my calorie intake and fat intake but I don't consider it a diet. I eat what I want within reason, even to the point of having bad food sometimes...LOL. I just got really serious about this myself on easter when someone made some RUDE comments to me pretty much telling me I was too fat to enjoy life..Yea okay, I will show them is the attitude I took and it has helped, I lost 4.5 lbs last week. You can do this and from what you have said it seems you have already lost some. If I am interpreting that correctly then congrats on the initial and good luck with the rest. I have at least 70 to go myself just to get to the high end of my idea weight range so I am right there with you. WE can do this!!

Welcome, Maggs!

I'm new here too, and I've already found this board to be very supportive and friendly. Like you, I'm on an anti-diet approach. I've been on too many diets and always ended up gaining it all back plus some, so this time I'm just making gradual changes to my life. Anything you can do to make yourself healthier is a good thing in my book. Also, I've got that heel spur thing going on too. Just wondering, are there any other exercises you do for that besides the one where you pick up a towel using your toes? Any tips you have would be great!

Anyways, glad to meet you and looking forward to getting to know you!

Holli,

I found something a few days ago that made me want to scream at myself because it was SO OBVIOUS. Sit down - grab a tennis ball, or a rolling pin, and roll your foot/feet on it; also, rest the ball of your foot on the tennis ball, and stretch "up", rather than stretching "down" by hanging your heels from the edge of a stair (if that makes any sense...)

Understand that I have NO free time to be lounging on the stairwell stretching my heels, and try to multitask as much as possible. (I am a teacher who works 60 hour weeks these days, and I have Adult ADHD, so stretching on the stairs is torture for me mentally.)

So anything that will let me do computer stuff or paperwork AND help my heels I am ALL FOR!
