Body Shape Workouts?

I recently read an atricle here on ivillage about the different body shapes (cone, ruler, hourglass, etc) and the different exercises that you should and should not do based on your body shape. Has anyone else read this and tried it? I found it very interesting that as an overweight "hourglass", I should not be using the ellipitcal trainer at the gym, as I started doing last week. Now I'm wondering if this is the reason why I somehow managed to gain back ALL of the weight I had lost so far in the space of a week, plus some. I didn't change anything else, eating the same amounts, the only thing I changed was my workout, which I thought was better, because I certainly was working harder. What does everyone think about the "body shape" theory?

Sounds like an interesting article. Can you post a link to it, I would love to read it.
I cannot say why you could have gained back the weight, however we ALL have times that we gain. Our bodies just do that to us. Plateaus happen, gains happen. The important thing is to not get too discouraged and continue on.
Are there trainers available at your gym? I would say schedule a session with one and discuss your gosl. They should be able to work with you to develop the best exercises for you.
Keep us informed on how your doing.

It starts out with a quiz to help you determine your body shape (I'm an hourglass), and then it'll go into a few pages to tell you more about your shape and what exercise you should do and which you should avoid. I'm just wondering if anyone else has followed this and if it worked?

I'm an hourglass too...
I just read the article and according to this an hourglass should concentrate on more cardio and less
Yeah, that's what I'm doing this week. I've stopped the elliptical and starting doing fast walking with an odd burst of jogging every 5 mins or so. I'm really trying to concentrate on the cardio right now and not worrying about stength training, although I've got a free session with a trainer at the gym this week and I'm sure she'll yell at me for that (she's really into strength training). Either way, I'm seeing a bit of a difference. I'm back down to my starting weight, but I'm still frustrated. I'm not used to hitting a plateau this soon........
