I am about a week into my diet and I find myself usually craving a specific type of food (apple pie, movie style popcorn).
I've found that even if I drink a bottle of water, balance my checkbook, eat a rice cake, brush my teeth- I am still craving that specific food.
I don't want to go around constantly thinking, "mmm doughnuts".
So I created this discussion for great substitutions!
I know you have substitutions!
A couple of mine:
When I am craving Apple Pie.... I eat a Yoplait Light Apple Turnover Yogurt. It has real apples and tastes just as good! If I am craving a lil crust- I'll sprinkle granola or bran flakes into the yogurt! Mmm now I want some!
When I am craving Chocolate.... For me, nothing can really beat a chocolate craving except chocolate- so I will usually have a small piece of dark chocolate or one of those chocolate calcium supplements. My boyfriend says a small glass of chocolate milk works for him.
When I am craving a spicy Enchilada.... I open up a can of chicken (like tuna) and put as many non salt spices in it as I can find! Chili powder, Mrs. dash, anything works. It's super spicy and only 160 calories.
When I am craving Movie Popcorn... I will take a bag of super low fat popcorn and sprinkle in other seasonings. I like Mrs. Dash. If I want caramel corn, I'll use nutmeg. A little goes a long way.
I hope y'all have some other substitution tips... I crave a lot!
