Today is cheat day

I said I would reward myself every other friday and
for luch I went to Perkins and had a chicken and
cheese quesadillas with sour cream and a glass of ice
water instead of pop and I had no desert but the day
is young and I know I might want something later since
I have to wait until another 14 days until I get to eat
something I have been craving.
The guilt is starting to set in, even though I deserve it
I really feel super guilty so I am still going to go for my
2 mile walk tonight to help feel better.

Hi niapage,
I know how you feel! When I originally started I agreed to let myself cheat some on weekends, not go all out like I used to, but if I wanted to have some of my favorite foods I promised that I wouldn't deprive myself. But, now that i have seen the scale moving I feel guilty when I indulge a little and worry about gaining, so it almost makes it not worth it to me.

My worst time is on weekends, with my hubby home and the kids wanting take out or to go out to eat. I went over 200 calories today, but I am not going to hang my head, because in the past I would have probably eaten double the amount of calories I did today and I would NOT have exercised either.

Is there any way you can incorporate some of the foods you are craving into your daily calorie limit? Like if it is chocolate, have a couple Hershey kisses each day or something small that you can slowly enjoy? Just an idea.

Anyhow, good luck!

I used to have this problem a while ago when I first started, now I have the opposite problem. I feel I 'deserve' to have a cheat meal and I overdo it. And I would convince myself of a whole cheat day (my system is to do a cheat meal, not the complete day). And when I do a complete cheat day, I really go overboard (it's soooo easy to go overboard with sugar)... In a way, having the guilty feeling is better. At least I was losing weight :)

Did you end up going for that 2 mile walk?

Hi Nia!

here's what I got from your message. you do low calories 13 days out of a 2 week span and allow yourself 1 meal of small indulgences on 1 day to help deal with cravings. You didn't have a soft drink, you didn't have a dessert. True the meal wasn't "low cal" but that's the idea of an indulgence! you also went on a 2 mile walk to get moving and feel better. I'm sorry you feel bad about it, but I see this as a heathly attitude! dealing with cravings instead of waiting and binging later is great as long as you aren't indulging every day.. and it doesn't sound like you are. There are going to be times before and after you reach your desired weight when you have to make a choice not to eat as heatlhy as you know you should and may want to... you are preparing yourself for just those occasions which tells me that you're making lifestyle changes and can make them stick! I personally see this as a victory for you

hope you feel better about your cheat day

Hurrah for cheat day! It sounded wonderful! (Mmmm, mexican food....) Think of this as preparing to transition to a less restrictive diet when you've reached goal, rather than cheating, if it helps .

I hope you don't still feel guilty. This is part of your program, right? And you've obviously been pretty restrained about "cheating", with no soda and still including exercise. Great willpower! Please share!

See you back at the low-cal section tomorrow,

Misha

Thank you for all the support and tips. I did go for the 2 mile
walk and the next day I was still on track I ate healthy and walked 4 miles
I doubled my walk because I have been at 1 1/2-2 miles for 2 weeks
now.
And as far as chochlate and sweets I do like lowfat chochlate chip
granola bars fat free pudding or meal on to go bars to sub a cooked
breakfast and still have something sweet!
I don't feel bad for cheat day since I did still exersice I did
winde up eating out for dinner to but I had barbque chicken and
6oz steak with green beans and plain mash potatoes not horrible
but not great. Thats the only 2 meals I ate that day.
well take care all and good luck to us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
