My name is Lindsey. I am 22 years old and a very proud military wife and mother of 4. My husband just got back from Iraq a few months ago !!! YAY !!! When I got married 4 1/2 years ago....I weighed 110 lbs. I'm only 4 foot 11 in. tall. I had my first son in March of 2002. I had twin girls in July of 2004 and my youngest son in May of 2005. My daughters passed away shortly after birth and I went crazy with eating. I was scheduled to start birth control as soon as my periods started again. It never started ...because I was pregnant with my little one. I'm so happy he is turning 1 , but I just had a reality check. I looked in the mirror and was like ...WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH ME ? I look horrble, feel horrible, have no energy. I now weigh in at

welcome to the board! your story sounds like a lot We've heard here.. there's a WHOLE lot happening in your life. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your daughters. On the other hand, welcome home to your husband! It has to feel great to have him back safe and sound with you and your adorable baby boy. Congratulations on the house, the new job AND the decision to go back to school, also very stressful yet exciting things in a persons life. The loss of your children, the uncertainty of your husbands saftey while he was far from you, and even buying a house, getting a new job and going back to school .. any 1 of those events would be enough for someone to turn to food, or drink, or whatever to try to cope and feel better.

now on to your weightloss.. admiting you have a problem is absolutely the first step. I like that you realize that as valid as your excuses may be, they are only excuses.. and I like that you feel mad enough about it to take that very first step. Have you thought any about what you're going to try to do to lose weight? There isn't 1 miracle way.. everyone has a different approach. It's a matter of finding what works for you.

I wish you luck in your journey.. keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

Welcome aboard Lindsey. As you said, the first step to recover is admitting you have a problem. And you already took that first step and you've already put yourself in the right frame of mind to start losing weight. Believe me, this is a huge step.

we're glad to have you with us. Did you decide on how you're going to start yet?

Thank you for making me feel welcome ! I have read all of Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Solution books and own the food guide and cookbook. I was thinking of going that route. Have you heard good things about this diet ? I also joined myfooddiary.com . Does anyone else use them ? ((HUGS)))

I don't use myfooddiary.com, but I use a very similar site sparkpeople.com and I often refer to the good old fitday.com (because they're both free LOL). I think they pretty much work the same as myfooddiary, you track the food and exercise and it calculates calories and carbs and fatss and stuff. I personally think it is helping me to see exactly what I'm doing. I do the mistake of underestimating what I eat, so journaling really helps me.

Good luck!
