Hello folks! I am new to ivillage..and if this message makes it to the boards i'll consider myself very lucky! I am 23 years old and I weigh 285lbs. It seems that with every new year my clothing size must correspond or supercede my age! I have terrible joint pains and bodily aches! The thing is lately I have had so much stress in my life that I have been pacifying myself with food! Much to the point that I cant seem to find the bottom to the pit! I have been so unhappy at my job and with job hunting, school, and searching for school funding, new house searching my plate is full (no pun intended). I have no time to manage my weight and stress!! I'm sorry if I'm depressing anyone or causing any regression in progress but any help on dieting and stress management techniques would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Courtney

I am afraid I can't offer much in the way of advice, but I can say that posting here has helped me some as far as dealing. It gives me an outlet so to speak. I can also say welcome and good luck.

Welcome to the board. There are a few things you could start out with. Drink plenty of water, cut back on fast food( if you eat it), cut back on junk food, watch your portions. Hope this helps some. I too struggle daily. Good luck.

Welcome to the board Courtney,

We are a bunch of ladies at all different stages of our weight loss journies who help, support and advise each other.

The first thing you need to do is decide HOW you are going to do this...count calories, WW, watch your cardbs...etc. Then make the decision to stick to it. And drink LOTS of water.

Wew all falter from time to time, but we get back up and try again....

We are here for you.I look forward to your posts and getting to know you.

Welcome to the board Courtney, we're glad to have you with us. I understand what you mean by pacifying yourself with food. Life becomes so hectic and sometimes you just feel it's the only way out. But losing weight doesn't require that much 'time'. If you mean by time to exercise, you can always start with changes in your diet first and when you feel you're ready, add in exercise. This is what I did myself.

Simple changes can really make a big difference. Stuff like downsizing your take out meals, cutting back on soda, adding some veggies to your plate, etc.

Even if life isn't perfect now, you can still change this one thing: your weight. And knowing that you're putting this effort to do something good for YOU will make you feel much better.

And whenever you feel you need to vent, we'll be here, count on that

Good luck! I'm looking forward to knowing you better
