hi everyone, i weigh 264 pounds and am 39 years old, married with two older children and two younger stepsons.
my questions are, how do i find out what my calorie intake should be for the day, i have no clue.
how long should i work out for, right now i do 20 minutes on the treadmill at 3.1 speed with a 0.5 or 1.0 incline, and usually do a little over a mile, this is 4-5 days a week, and also each of the 5 days do about 10 minutes with weights. Am I going way too slow on the treadmill.
if i eat breakfast and lunch i seemed to be starving by supper, if i dont eat breakfast and lunch i am still starving by supper time, but i wouldn't have those extra calories does that make sense?
how do i find healthy delicious meals that are inexpensive. i can't afford to spend money on specialty foods with a family to feed, i just can't do it.
i see myself at the woman i used to be at a size 16 (my skinny days), when i see pics of myself and i realize what i really look like, i absolutely hate myself, but i seem to get nowhere and i don't want gastric bypass surgery, or anything extreme, but i don't want to die of a heart attack either from being so overweight.
Help me, please.
thanks. bernadette

First off, welcome aboard.
Second try these websites
http://www.dietitian.com/ibw/ibw.html
http://health.ivillage.com/healthcalc
These are the 2 I really like, in fact i have been playing on them just a few minutes ago trying to decide how many calories my friend needs NOT to lose anymore weight and what a healthy weight was for her.
As for working out, the trainer at the Y and at every gym I have EVER been to and everything I have read says to take a day off between each group of muscles, say you work lower body 1 day, upper the next OR you do a complete workout 1 day and then take the next off. The trainer at the Y also recommended taking at least 1 day a week off from ANY exercise. That is what I know.
I hope these help you.

Hi Bernadette, Welcome to the board.
The other ladies that responded have given you some great advice. I would also try sparkpeople.com
That is a great site for calorie info and exercse.
One thing I would say is to make sure you do NOT skip the meals. I eat 5 times a day. 7am breakfast, 10am snack, 1pm lunch, 3:30-4pm snack and then dinner usually by 7pm. You need to keep feeding your body to keep your motabolism moving. If you do not eat enough, your body will think you are starving it and will begin to hold on to your fat becasue it will think it won't get any more.Make sense?
Exercise is of course also a key. You want to burn off more then you take in ideally!!
I wish you the best of luck in this journey. We are here for you and I look forward to your posts.
