Hi there. I am new and wanted to introduce myself. I am 31 and have been happily married for 12 years and I am a SAHM to three girls, 9,9 and 6. I am getting ready to go back to school in the fall after 12 years of being out. I am so excited about going back!
Now for my weight issue. I never had a problem with my weight until I was comfortably married and then when I have my children the problem only became worse. I am now at my all time high of 242. I have been fully aware that I have needed to lose weight for a long while, but am now at a point where I feel motivated and confidant that I can see this through. I know that this will not be an overnight journey as I plan to lose between 1 and 2 pounds per week, slow and steady wins the race, right? My plan is getting back to basics, like when I was naturally thinner and didn't have to worry about my weight. I am giving up soda, going to drink those 64 ounces of water a day, I am going to eat foods that are not all processed and I am going to move more. I feel like that these are the basics that I need to start with and once I have created a good pattern there then I will re-evaluate what else needs changed.
The problems that I can see for myself along the way are: self doubt and lack of motivation. I can faintly see the person that was once 130 pounds, but since I have been heavier (190-242) the last 12 years I am afraid that I have come to see the 240 pound person as me, an unhappy with myself me, but still me. I know that I will love having this board to give me the day by day support to keep my going even when the going gets tough. I also plan on fully being there for everyone here.
I can't wait to get to know you all and work on our goals together!

Welcome aboard and good luck. Sounds like you have put a lot of thought into this and know where/how you want to start so I am sure you will do well. The only thing I have to add advice wise is maybe splitting it up into smaller goals. Like right now I am shooting for 25 lb lost. I have never gotten past 20 so I am shooting for my 25 and once I get there I will reward myself with a night of bowling (I don't get to go out much so this is my treat for me). Then I will shoot for 50 lbs lost in which I have decided on a vacation if I reach it. That motivates me, I haven't been on a real vacation since I got married. Good luck to ya.

Hi Steph, we have the same weight goal ! I'm a bit heavier than you and started last monday, maybe we can be partners. I'm using hydroxycut along with low fat diet and exercise, and I have lost a few pounds already. I hope I stay motivated, and that this time its for real. My short weight goal is 25 lbs before july 5, thats when I go to Puerto Rico on a mini vacation. :D
Challenges anyone can do, journals you start your own if you want to. Of course if you would rather keep it private there are LOTS of websites that do journaling. I personally have used Fitday and Sparkpeople.com, this is the one I currently use and really like. IT lets you set up your program through them and gives you recommendations. The best thing about both these sites are they are FREE!!
You can set up a personal/group challenge or join one already began. That is your choice.
Good luck.
