Just out of curiousity, does anyone have any problem with riding any rides at amusement parks? I'm 5'10 and I weight 283. I'm a size 22. Last year I was hurt when I couldnt fit on one ride and I was like a 18/20!!! I was just wondering if anyone experiences this? My DH and I want to go this weekend, but I get so paranoid.

Out of fear, I haven't been on any rides. I am going to Disney World in 3 months with my In Laws and am scared because I'd like to go on the rides but am afraid. I am only 5 foot 3 and weigh 251....hoping to lose at least 15 more by then though.

GOOD LUCK. I hope someone else can give you the advice/help that you are looking for though!

Going on amusement park rides is something I'm really looking forward to when I get to my goal weight. I haven't been able to for eons, because I have been too big all of my adult life. I remember truly enjoying them as a kid, though, and plan to go to Six Flags or Disneyland when I finally get to 140 lbs. I think you and your hubby ought to go anyway, even if you are still too big for the rides. Walking around the park would be great excercise, and there's bound to be other things at an amusement park bsides the rides. Like playing the "Test Your Strength" games where you try to hit the bell at the top of tower by swinging a big hammer. Or the "carnival" games where you try to throw a ball, or shoot targets, or something like that for different prizes. And then there is always shopping at the little booths or gift shop or whatever. Whatever you decide to do, have fun.

Last time I was on an amusement ride, I didn't fit too well. So I don't think I would fit at all now. And I love riding. I can barely wait to ride again.

I haven't been to a park in a while either, but I agree that you should go. Yes there may be things that you can't do, but there will also be lots of things that you CAN do. We should NEVER allow our size to keep us from having FUN!!

And the whole atmosphere is FUN at those places.

Now you have me wanting to go to one;)

Just thought I would add my two cents here. I am leaving for Disneyland in 7 days! YAY!!! The thing is, Disneyland only has weight restrictions on one ride. The orange thing that is swings, and I don't plan on going on that ride. I went to Disneyland last year, and I was heavier then I am now, and had NO problems with any of the rides. Disneyland is the ONLY amusement park I have ever heard of like that. I mean, it becomes an issue of, if you can properly fit in the restraints so the ride will be comfortable and safe. I'm a little nervous, but at the same time, not really. And then thing is its hard to know exactly if you will fit, just because people hold weight differently. Its really just a "try and see". But I know for a fact that Disneyland really really tries to accomadate their guests.
I would say go, and try to have fun!

For WDW fans, there is a site called Allears.net. They have a special section all about the park pertaining to plus size folks. I've been several times and have never had a problem with any attractiion. WDW truly caters to folks of all sizes!
