Giving it another try...

Hi there. I've posted a couple of times over the past year, but then I go eat some cookies and try to forget that I need to lose so much weight! My name is Wendy and I'm 37. I currently weigh 281 and am 5'4". Last summer I was 265. My smallest as an adult was in college at 169 and back then I thought I was so huge, but now I look at those pictures and wish I was that weight again. The hardest part is looking at the big picture, I know I should set small goals. I'll try to eat better and do well for about a week and then I eat poorly and before you know it weeks have gone by and I've gained. I was diagnosed with diabetes earlier this year and did pretty well following the carb grams that I was allotted by my nutritionist, I even lost about 8 lbs, but then I feel off that wagon and started eating junk and haven't gone back on. You'd think being diagnosed would make me take stock and try that much harder! I feel like I am just lazy and want a quick fix, so instead of trying I sit around waiting for some miracle to happen.
I plan on sticking around this time. I really need to lose weight for my health and well being. I hope to get to know all of you better. :)
Wendy

Hi Wendy. You sound like me. I'm trying really hard but I get discouraged easily. I've just been trying to eat healthier and move around more. I feel if it comes then it comes off. I always hope if I ignore the scale then the next time I get on I will weight less.
I hope you stick around. And good luck.
Welcome to the board Wendy...
I think we have all tried more then once to do this.
The key is to keep coming back. I hope you stick around, we all offer great support to each other in this journey we are on.
I know what you mean by thinking were were huge one time before and then we look at it now and think OMG, what was I thinking.
I've actually put old pics from when I was smaller on my refridgerator door for inspiration.

Wendy,
I wish you the best of luck. I like you went a long time saying I was going to do this then caving and not coming back for months. This is a difficult journey but I know we are all strong enough to face it. We have to be. Welcome and good luck!!

Welcome back Wendy. It doesn't matter how many times you tried before.. you can make this time work. We're here to support you and bug you until you make it work! Diabetes is serious and you have to do something about it. My husband was recently diagnised and he is still slacking and not being very serious, but I'm on his tail (now if I can get on MY tail for a while..)
Are you going to follow any specific diet plans? What are you planning to do?
I love your signature!!
Hello. I'm currently trying to follow an exchange program (so many fruits, breads, etc) and within that I have to make sure I eat a certain amount of carbs for each meal. I say "trying" because I haven't done too well so far. I meet with a group at my church for the exchange weight loss program and we met tonight. So far I have gained 5 lbs in the 5 weeks! Not so good. But, tomorrow is a new day.
Thanks, I love my siggy too. A girl on another board made it for me. :)

Wendy, when my husband was diagnosed (last month), the doctor told him that once he starts the medication he will probably gain a few pounds.
Here is the explanation (you've been warned LOL).. when we eat, glucose (sugar)
Hi Mary,
It's good to know that the weight won't continue to rise!
As for the carbs, I'm supposed to eat about 160 grams a day. The nutritionist had is broken down for my meals, based on my lifestyle (stay up late, sleep late). I followed it really well at first, but lately haven't been doing to well. But I am trying today. My breakdown is: Meal 1- 45g; meal 2- 30g; meal 3 60g; and meal 4 20-25g. They told me that it is important to eat the same amount of carbs for a specific meal each day.
Thanks!
Wendy
Hey Wendy!!! Glad to "see" you here! Our stories are quite similar here too. I was never less than 150-160 from the age of 12 through High School and even though I felt HUGE, I would LOVE to be back to that weight, lol.
We already know each other but I know we can support one another through our weight loss journeys too.
Love ya!
Melissa
