Best exercise for a lazy chic?

Anyone know what the best way to get started into exercising? Last time I plunged in I ended up tearing my achilles tendon. That is just from treadmill, exercise bike, and elliptical machine. Needless to say I haven't been working out since my son was 1 (two years ago). My best friend and I (in San Diego) used to go to gym and work out and I always walked at least 2 miles a day out there. Now I live in a ruralish (is that a word) area and he is too big for a stroller. And got used to being lazy!! I don't havea car to go to the park, but my complex does have a exercise room (hence the exercise bike, treadmill, and elliptical). So what you gals think??

Start slow, warm up well, and build up to the big stuff. That said, warming up with a 10-minute slow-moderate paced walk and then continuing to walk at a moderate pace for 30 minutes works well for me. I also enjoy short bike rides. Is there a playground in your complex? If so, taking your child out to play and chasing him around there for 30 minutes would also be a great form of excercise in my opinion. Or taking him for a "nature walk". This would be going for a walk and looking at the surrounding flowers, trees, grass, birds, etc.Anything really, just get moving! Hope this helps. :-)

Hi there,

Maybe just start slow on just the eliptical(it is the easiest on your joints).

Even if you just do a few minutes a day and work up to more.

Good luck to you.

Start slow and build up from there. And never push youself to the point of pain. Even if you think you're not doing enough exercise and you need to stay longer: if you're feeling pain.. slow down and stop.

Walking is a great exercise and you can
