I hadn't realized how unhealthy I had become until just recently. I am new to this board and I am looking for any encouragement that I may find here. I am up to 230 lbs which is 100 lbs over the weight that I was in 2000. A frightening thought for me since heart disease and diabetes run rampant in my family. I guess it started to hit me when I had to buy bigger pants and then when I went to the club the other day I couldn't dance as long as I used to. (I know that everyone here needs to lose weight but I am a person who kinda needs to get this off my chest so please excuse my rant.) I finally stepped on the scale and realized with a shudder exactly how much I weighed. Which is what has brought me here and walking two miles in the morning, giving up drinking alcohol, going on a low carb diet, swimming and other stuff. I hope to find some support on here. I am very understanding if anyone needs to talk.

Welcome to the board!
Good luck with your new lifestyle and acheiving the progress that you want. We are all following different programs (Weight Watchers for me) and it is a daily process.
I look forward to chatting with you more!

Hello and welcome to the board.
I understand what you mean by saying that this suddenly hit you. It is the same way with me. I just didn't 'see' that I was that much overweight. But it is great that you're already doing something about it. Congratulations on the awesome steps.. walking, swimming, cutting alcohol, and going low carb.. you're already on your way!!
Good luck to you on your journey. I will be looking forward to your posts. Please join us.. we all need all the support we can get.
