Stupid Scale!

I've been religiously exercising for the past (almost) 2 weeks.. and my reward? I gained 3 lbs. And it's not bloating either because my feet are just fine. And it's not something temporarily because I've been getting on that scale since last Thursday and it's showing the same thing.. 3lbs gain. And I tried to up my calories to see if it makes a change.. and nope no change. It is just so frustrating and it makes me want to scream!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm still going strong. Walking 30 minutes every weekday (except last Monday because of office work) and being super active on the weekends. My calories were going up a bit (mainly because I"m frustrated I'm not losing), but they're getting back down. I am so determined to get down to a 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day. I will lose some serious weight this month. I need to lose some weight before my trip.. My goal last year was to break 200 before my trip and I need to do that (or get close to that as much as possible)

That said.. that scale is soooo frustrating. Stupid stupid stupid scale.. can't you see I should be losing?

are you journaling--are you drinking enough water -- how about the sodium, even if you are not swollen, you still might be consuming too much sodium.

try to change your exercise routine somewhat, do something different. our bodies love variety. same with eating, are you eating the same things over and over if so, make some lateral changes.

Mary,

Based on what your doing, yes you should be losing. Maybe you are losing just fat and toning it up. Are you seeing a change in the way your clothes fit?

Try not to get too frustrated. You are doing great!!!

Mary, you are doing fine. I bet if you got out a tape measure and took some measurements you would be pleasntly suprised. Sometimes those muscles just show up and the most in-opportune times. Whatever has caused the little bump will pass. Don't get discouraged, keep up the good job you are doing.

Yes it is frustrating to see the scale go up, and I understand that frustration well. Maybe you are gaining muscle though, I would try measurements to see, cuz if the scale goes up but the measurements go down, I would still be happy!!

Mary,
I started seriously exercising three weeks ago and the same thing happened to me. The scale went up when I thought it should be going down. But now it's starting to head back down again, so maybe it's just that your body is going through an adjustment period? Anyway, don't get discouraged. No matter what happens on the scale you're doing something great for your body!

cl-merry, I myself have lost 150 pounds BUT i have since put about 60 back on!!! I do not get down on myself but you should feel great and be very proud of yourself!! YOU GO GIRL!! Anyway i would also get so discouraged when that would happen to me but what i would also do when i was losing the weight I would measure everything ,my hips,my tummy,my legs and for heavens sake even my wrist lol And most of the time i would find i did not lose weight but once i measured myself I had taken off a inch or 2 and always remember muscle weighs more than fat!! So with the working out you are aalso building up muscle and toning you body on its way to its new shape!! So please dont get down on yourself you are doing great!!! Hope that helps a bit I am new to this site but it is soooo much full of info, jokes, ect. I am going to start losing again I did it before and I will do it again!! Jenny
