Taco Bell's "4th Meal" Ads.....

Have you seen these ads?? It really makes me so mad! They're like yeah you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner...then your 4th meal is supposed to be in between dinner and breakfast??!!?! I saw it in the window of the drive thru tonight! (lol I know I shouldn't have been there to begin with, no excuses) Anyway, as an adult I know I have the choice to go get that "meal" or not to go get it. BUT....what about the little kids this is aimed at as well? I know that if they have

A meal between dinner and breakfast? LOL.. who's the fool that came up with that one? The guys in this ad campaign need to take a vacation and come up with some fresh ideas.. this is pathetic.
But I agree with you.. putting this message out can have bad effects on the young people watching. But I think it's very important for parents to set a good example. There is a lot of madness on TV (not just food related) and parents do have a big responsibility to be role models and give criticism on what they see inappropriate in the media. They're just not making that job easy though
Another side of the story:
I think they are aiming it at the high school/college age kids that are out really late or should I say early in the morn and they do eat at that time of night so.....I know several years ago I used to frequent those late night places myself. I also did it when I was working at all hours of the night. I don't think they meant to come across as you have to eat that late but if you want/need to eat that late then it is available. Just another way of looking at it, another opinion. I mean I know it can be taken the way you described and that makes it look really bad but try to look at it my way and it isn't as bad!!!

if you look at all of taco bells ad's. they're hanging on the dumb side of things. the "i'm full" commercials really bugged me because i can get full on free water from a drinking fountain. but that's besides the point. taco bell = dumb, and their dumbness appeals to the masses.
i am a college student. and i see a TON of girls exposing their flub (i am not one of them because i buy clothes that fit). they're usually girls that were skinny in high school and have packed on some meat since then or larger girls that pour themselves into skinny girls' clothing. I'd rather be large and wear clothes that flatter my curves; than be grotesque looking and wear clothes that are two sizes too small.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I saw several girls like that when I attended classes on campus the last 2 years, and what suprised me the MOST was guys actually paid them attention! I was suprised!

Hi, Laura-
Wow, I hadn't seen those ads... and that's a good thing, because all I need is a suggestion for another mealtime this week to push me over the edge.
Seriously, if you're out late, or coming home late from work and craving food, pulling into a fast-food place is probably the worst alternative available from a health standpoint. (Are there any good alternatives out there?) I love Taco Bell, but after seeing the nutritional info website that Mary posted, I really had to rethink the "one little burrito won't hurt" scenario. Does anyone have the metabolism to handle that on a regular basis?
I think it's commendable that those of you with children are thinking ahead to the effects of this advertising on their future. It can't be easy when these subtle (and not-so-subtle) influences are everywhere... and television in particular can be so seductive.

A lot of subways are open that late!!! Or at least they were when I was working 24/7 and going to school at the same time. I ate what I could grab on the go back then. LOL Funny that isn't when I gained the weight, It was after I quit doing all that and decided to go healthy, then I packed on the pounds...LOL go figure. Of course I also had 2 babies after that time....LMAO guess that could be the real culprit!

well at my school, it's 76% guys. so there's a limited selection of females. i mean girls come here just because of the fact, and they want their M.R.S. degree.
M bf was surprised when i told him how much i weighed. He says i carry it well and everything i wear either hides it or flatters it.
you can be big and beautiful; even more beautiful than some of the skinnier girls that can't dress themselves. i don't think i could ever weigh less than 160, i love my boobs, i love my butt, and if i weighed any less, i might loose them. so be beautiful you're whole trip to a skinnier you!
