Hi my name is Audrey. I'm a 21 year old college student. I'm unhappy with my body. I feel as though I've lost control of what I do. I'm here for support and to give someone else a shoulder to lean on. So hello and it's great to be here!!

i'm cutting calorie intake to 1400 cal. a day. I wake up and do a good morning stretch to Carmen Electra's striptease. It's a fun way to wake up plus boosts to confidence levels and gets me going. Then working out (by that i mean some cardio on an eliptical machine, and maybe some basic weight training every other day) at least a half hour a day (today it was an hour and then some because i ran into a friend at the gym). I'm going to try to work out 5 days a week giving myself a break from the gym on the weekends because i'm usually active outdoors then. Setting mini goals seems to be the best for me. If i set one long term goal it's a bit overwhelming and i'll easily give up. So I've set mini goals every ten pounds with a reward when i reach that goal. they're not much, a new nail polish or my favorite drink from my favorite bar. I'm also writing down everything i eat. Including the amount of water i drink. I'm giving up pop in general even though diet has no calories, i just don't want to drink it anymore. My long term goal is to go from 280 (which frankly in the last 10 months i've put on 30 of it) to 180. I know this will take awhile and every pound is a pound closer to my goal.

Hi Audrey,
Welcome. I'm fairly new to the board too. It sounds like you have a great plan in place. I love the idea of working out to the striptease video. I think I'll have to get that! My husband will enjoy it I bet.

You sound very active, which is wonderful. I need to try to get more active.

Good luck, I hope we can all be of help to you.

Wendy

Story about the striptease video. One morning I woke up to get my day started. My boyfriend was in town visiting so I couldn't do it in my room. So i came downstairs to use the lving room. He heard me wake up and followed me down soon after I started the third routine. (which actually gets you into the striptease a little) After it was done he applauded and i was completly embarassed. But he liked it none the less. It's fun and somewhat easy. She even says who cares if you screw up you're havin fun. It's not a major heart pumping, sweating producing thing. If anything it streches you and and gets your jump started, plus teaches you how to shake your money maker like a pro!!

Welcome, Audrey! It sounds like you have a lot going for you; anyone who starts her day with a striptease is bound for success ;-)

The soda-less diet will probably be helpful, too. I've found that even diet soda tends to make me crave the bad stuff (mostly salt in my case), and feel bloated.

Anyway, good luck to you...

Yep I'm a geoloy major at michigan tech. geology is the study of the earth and its systems. i mostly like rocks and anything that has to do with mining. in other words, i lick rocks and hit things with a hammer. my dream would be to make coal mining as safe as possible. the mining industry is in a bit of a pickle because mining engineering is becoming an absolete (sp?) field. and the industry itself is getting old (like the people), and since there is such a high demand for mining engineers and not very many to fill them; they're using other engineering fields like geological engineering to fill in the spots. but mining engineers are educated in up keep of mines and everything else, unliked geo. engs. are.

wow look at me rant. anyways i want to make coal mines safer. from better methods of monitoring methane build up, to advance sensing before you even get to the pocket. and all of this because i collected rocks as a child.

You've really chosen an interesting field-- nice that you'll be in demand, too! I don't know much about coal mining, but I grew up in Northern California, with a paleontologist grandfather, so I've always had a soft spot for rocks (and plate tectonics) myself. Good luck in your studies...
