And it felt FANTASTIC! (Although the water was freezing...)
I can't believe I let myself miss out on that for so long. Thank you all SO MUCH for all the encouragement to get my butt in gear. I'm going to try and make this an after-work habit.

swimming is a great work out! well reward too. Water creates extra pressure on your body due to the fact it's denser than air, so you have to work harder to breath, which works you out more and burns for calories. You know that feeling after swimming, how you're starving and ready for a good nap? That's what it is. Plus swimming is easier on joints. I swim when i'm sore from a good hard workout (usually the day after).
I live by Lake Superior so I know what cold water is!!

Thanks for the good news about those extra calories; "ready for a good nap" was exactly how I felt after swimming. And I liked it!
Just wanted to say CONGRATS! That must have felt good! Don't let anything hold you back from doing something you really want to do.
