Ya'll all keep saying that the scale slows down after a while so tell me this, If I only lost 7 lbs in a month and it slows down further, where does that leave me?? I have a really week every now and then and lose 2-4 lbs then nothing for a week or so, then another good week. My body is so confused.......LMAO I mean seriously!! Oh well, I hope it don't slow to NOTHING!

maintaining is just as important as getting the weight off. try a new workout, or just something new in your daily routine. like instead of walking for 30 minutes, walk for 40. see if tht gets you anywhere.

Good work, keep your body guessing!
1) As we lose weight, it takes fewer calories just to keep the machine working, so we need to take in fewer calories or burn more through exercise to keep on losing.
2) As time goes on, we might gradually become a bit less strict about portions, workout pace, etc., without really realizing how this adds up over time.
3) Although I'm assured that the science doesn't bear this out, I remain convinced (based on my own experience) that your body starts hoarding at some point if it thinks you're going to starve it.
4) It seems that everyone blasts through these off periods sooner or later... and even 7 pounds a month is 84 pounds a year. I'd like to be 84 pounds lighter next year instead of the same weight I am now (or heavier), how about you? Think how dazzling we'll be in our bathing suits then!
Take care,
Misha
I am not saying it is bad, just does that mean it will stop soon...LMAO
I am sure that if I keep at it and as I build my stamina that I will be able to exercise longer at a time and it will help keep me losing, and I am battling calories and trying to get my body used to eating less and I am sure with time that will come too. Thank you for your responses.

kepp your body guessing too! don't do the same work out every day. spice it up with something new. trainers who work at gyms are very nice and very willing to show you how to use a new machine.
keep up the great work!!
(whew 84 pounds lighter? i can't wait!!)

I never do the same thing....Sometimes I go swimming, sometimes walking, sometime I just run around with the kids. The only thing I do regularly is strength and I try to do that at least 2 times a week if not 3! I can't do anything that will raise my heartrate very high at the gym so........I can't do the bikes, or the other cardio machines for that reason, my heart rate goes through the roof and I can't breathe so I stick to walking there..LOL I love to swim and am just grateful MIL has a pool!! The Y's pool is only 4 ft deep so that is perfect for the kids just not for me.

That would freak me out considering my 5 yr old is starting swim lessons there next month except my 12 yr old took them there when she was 5. They let the mom's stay by the pool if they desire to, and luckily dd5 can already swim a little bit so that is a relief to me to. I be damned if I would sit on the sidelines while my child almost drowns I would be in that pool before you can say hey. My kids are my life!!!!

I don't know that the scale always slows down after a while. Yes, when you get 10 lbs from goal, it's probably not going to drop as fast as it did when you were 100 lbs from goal, but a lot of that has to do with making sure you stay on plan and re-evaluating your eating as you go along. In the past, as long as I've stuck with my eating plan (and really stuck with it, no splurges here and there and then some), I've always had steady consistent weight loss, up to almost 70 lbs before I went off track. That's where the problem really comes in. Once you lose so much and start feeling good about yourself, a lot of times the diet becomes less strict and maybe your calories creep up, instead of down like they should. If you do reach a point where your weight loss is really slowing down, that's when you have to take a long hard look at what/how much you are eating and make sure it is on plan and you may also have to drop calories. I know that an 1800 cal/day diet is going to work great for me right now, but when I get down to 200 lbs or so, I may have to drop to 1500/day to continue losing at the same rate because my body will need fewer calories. Or, I could stick with the 1800/day and realize that yes, the weight loss will slow some, but it's still doable, and that's the most important thing.

Yea I most definitely know kids, have a houseful at any given time. My 2 yo son was trying to get to his sister and when he got to the point he couldn't crawl (he felt steadier on hands and knees) he started trying to swim despite he kept going under..LOL I don't think I am going to have a problem teaching him how to swim, just put dd12 at the other end of the pool and let him go. LMAO!! I hope that works when I get the floatation swimsuit from MIL's house and put in out there in it. LOL I guess it is great that my kids are so close but at the same time it is proving to be a handful for the little ones to want to copy dd12!!
