I haven't been here before, I've been kind of lurking. Feeling rather ashamed of how I've let myself get over the years. I am 208 lbs on a 5'4 frame, with type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and triglycerides... also have another problem, I'm a food addict... I don't know whether there's a support group for that in here or not. Just looking for support to help me through this. I feel rather lost.

Hi there. Congratulations on losing 32 pounds. That is great! I'm a food addict too. I just want to eat all the yummy stuff that I see. It doesn't help that we live with my MIL at the moment and she lives on junk food and refuses to stop bringing it into the house. I was just diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes a few months ago, but so far that hasn't encouraged me to eat healthier. It's so hard!!!!

I'm fairly new to this board and am hoping I can get off my butt and eat better. What type of plan are you following? My dietician has me on about 160 carbs a day. I did really well at first, but the momentum is gone and I haven't been doing too great the past couple of months.

I'm looking at tomorrow as a brand new start. It sounds like you are on the right road to losing.

Thank you. Funny thing is, I'm in the same situation you are, we are at my husband's family home helping out while my MIL goes through her 5th round of chemo, we've been here since his father passed 6 years ago, and since she was diagnosed 5 years ago. We're close, and she's an amazing woman, but it's been hard. I've been stressed from school (quit the workforce to pursue degree), then job hunt, then working through marriage issues, staying sober, the list goes on... I've been struggling hard since I quit drinking 11 years ago. I think I went from one addiction to another. I don't think my husband or MIL realize what I'm going through; I do know that they are very supportive of me emotionally when I need them. I am blessed. I've got esteem issues (big surprise)

Hi,

Welcome to the board. That is so wonderful that you already lost 32 pounds! That is the hardest part of the way, so you should feel proud of yourself.

I am a food addict too, I want to eat all the food that I see. Like yesterday, I was at my MIL's house and she cooked very delicious dishes and I wanted to eat all of them, all at once.... but THANKS GOD I abstained. Just put a small piece of pork ribs plus some salad, plus cooked veggies and promised not to touch anything else. As usual I wanted to eat really quickly and then I stopped myself. I read about a new method of

You're a third of the way to your goal- that's fantastic! Better to be proud of that, and where you are now, than thinking about what might have been. It will happen... stay on course...

What great information about watching the speed at which you eat... thanks, I'm going to be more careful about that. And congratulations on resisting the temptations at your mother-in-law's house. You are so good, and such a source of strength for me!

Thank you Misha for kind words. By the way I have been thinking of your posts the same way: they are source of strength for me , and I am sure for others too.

Welcome to the board..

Congratulations on losing 32 pounds already.. this is a great achievement and you should be proud of that! You also battled some daemons before in your life. Congratulations on staying sober.. I guess if you concurred that, then something like weight loss shouldn't be difficult for a determined and strong person like you.

I guess you already have a good system working since you lost 32 pounds. Keep it up and give us updated often. And feel free to ramble and vent here as much as you like :)

Good luck in the rest of your journey
