Welcome to the board Sowmya.. and what a cute little girl you have there.
I am not a vegetarian myself, so I don't have a lot of advice for you. Cutting chips and soda should help you lose some serious weight. Maybe you're just overcompensating somewhere else. Did you try tracking what you're eating? Fitday.com & sparkpeople.com are two great free sites that help you do that. I like the accuracy of the Fitday tracker better, but I feel sparkpeople is more friendly.
You may also want to take some measurements because sometimes exercising will keep the scale still (or even show a gain), but you'll be losing inches. That's what happened to me when I started walking.
I just caught up with your post (and your cutie-pie Dheeksha)-- welcome, and best of luck to you! Have you tried journaling to see where the mystery calories are creeping in? You should have something to show for the awe-inspiring accomplishment of giving up soda and chips! Looking forward to hearing more from you...
WElcome and Good luck to you.
