ok so im new to the message board, but i figured id give it a go.
so over the last year i made alot of progress in loosing around 40lbs, and i felt great when i did it was the first time i went shopping for clothes and didnt cry over it.... but i went threw a troubling time and during that period i put all that weight back on.
ive decided i want to try again but i am having trouble getting remotivated. does anyone have any tips on getting back on the ball with this stuff, before i had some people i was working with, this time around there not here to help.

Well, finding a group for support is always a good start. If you don't find the online support to be enough, you might try joining something like Weight Watchers? Other than that, my only advice is that sometimes you just have to do it. Make it a goal to stick with your diet for only one week. Then take it day by day, even when you don't feel like doing it. I've gotten on and off the wagon more times than I can count, and it's not always easy finding the motivation. Exercising usually helps, though, because I've found that after having sweated for 30 minutes one day, I don't want to ruin the hard work and will eat good the rest of the day and the next. It works for me. Good luck, and don't worry if you can't stick with it 100%. I once lost 40 lbs then got stuck and ended up re-starting EVERY week for about 3 months. I didn't lose another lb, but didn't gain either, so that when I was finally ready to really start again, I was able to start from a better place. If you're not losing, it's much better to maintain than to gain :). Welcome!!!

Hi and welcome to the board...
Finding motivation is not always easy. But instead of waiting around for motivation to hit (and in the meantime pack a few more pounds), why don't you just start? I mean like Staci said, you can try sticking to it for one week and maybe when you see results you'll be motivated to take it another step. Also did you ever try journaling? Keeping a journal makes me focus on my goal and makes me more aware of what I"m putting in my mouth.
I am looking forward to more of your posts. We're all in this together and with when we all support each other it makes the journey so much easier.

I agree with the other posters here, just starting is the best way to build that motivation up... maybe with one small thing, walking 10 minutes or giving up fast food/soda/whatever for a week, then two, etc. And then when major motivation DOES magically strike, step up your program and take advantage of that!
How did you lose your weight before? Do you think you'll try the same plan? I'm right with you on this, re-committing and relying on the great support group on this board to keep me going. Good luck to us both (all)!

I know, and I've never lasted until I reached my ultimate goal, but still I plug away at it. I've been visiting this board for over a year and really like the encouragement. I tend to get stuck when I hit 250 and then yoyo there for a while, then if I break that plateau, I tend to get stuck around 225 and haven't made it lower than that since I passed that # 5 years ago. Hopefully this time will be different and more lasting.

the most difficult part has been being in college and having such a small budget for food, but im working threw it and getting myself back on it.
only a few days into it and i feel alot better, im back up and bike riding and have my boyfriend riding with me, so its alot easier having his support. hopefully i can fully commit this time!

Welcome aboard, and good luck to you. If low carb is what is good for you and something you can stick with and not feel deprived then by all means it may be for you. I know a lot of people have concerns about it but hey what works for you works for you.

That's great! The first week is always a b*tch, anyway. My boyfriend experiences the same thing when he goes low-carb, with his depression improving markedly. (Sadly, he tends to want to go drastically low-carb, which of course he can't stick with over the long haul. Still working on this one!)
This is a great time of year for dieters, with so many fresh fruits and vegetables being available and CHEAP. And biking is amazing exercise... you are on your way!

My body works well with low carb too (mind you that's 'low carb' and not 'No carb'). I never count carbs, but I noticed that on the weeks when I eat less rice & bread and up the protein I do better (with the same calories).
