Frustrated with how slow

I am losing weight. Okay granted I know I have done okay, I mean 7 lbs in 7 weeks is by no means bad but at the same time I want it to go a little faster. SO most of this I posted in my journal entry but for those of you who don't make it that far.... I am going to go lower with calories/fat intake and try to lose 2 lbs/week for a while!! At any rate I will be happy with any loss but this yo yoing from week to week is driving me up the wall. I want to be at 10 lbs lost and stay there without going back up the next week, then I want to see 20 lbs gone and stay there, then 30 and so on and so forth.
This bouncing between 247 and 252 is driving me mad.
SO my goals over the next few days is to weigh in at 248 even by Friday and then after that:
I am hoping to get to 196 lbs by the first of the year. I have to put my mind to this task. I want to lose 52 lbs by Jan 1 putting me at 196. That is my 1st long term goal. So I have 6 months (26 weeks) to do this in. I can do this. I have to do this. I can't keep letting my weight weigh me down and keep me from enjoying life.
Here are my gaols starting July 1st:
July 1st: 248
Aug 1st: 238
Sept 1st: 230 --->> 10% gone --My first reward - bowling & new jeans
Oct 1st: 222
Nov 1st: 212
Dec 1st: 204 --->> 20% gone --My second reward - ?? & new clothes
Jan 1st: 196
Feb 1st: 188
Mar 1st: 180
April 1st: 176 --->> another 25 lbs gone-- 3rd reward - Anniversary trip & new clothes
May 1st: 172
June 1st: 168
July 1st: 164 --->> High end of idea weight ---
Reevaluation to see if I am happy or want to lose more
This give me 1 yr to lose 84.4 lbs. Total lost will be 92 by this point!
If I don't make my 2 lbs/week then I won't beat myself up but I would REALLY like to see the above numbers happen. I have made a chart to record my goals and my weigh in's and I have my calendar handy to watch it too. I know there are liable to be weeks where I don't lose anything but it if averages out over the long haul then GREAT, if not I will be disappointed but happy with any loss that stays off!! I am ready to get my life back in order and I am tired of not having the energy/breath to do it! Time to buckle down even harder on myself.

I know everyone here completely understands the frustration with the scale. Usually when I start, it falls off fast, but then when it slows down, I start getting bored and then the scale slows down even more. I think your goals for the next few months are reasonable and you can do it!
I just wanted to let you know that I've seen you struggle sometimes with going overboard or bingeing, and it reminds me a lot of myself. And for me, it was never just one slip up, it's always been one leads to two and two leads to three and then it's been a week of slip ups. One thing I've learned is that if I plan to eat something "bad" every single day, then I don't go overboard (nearly as often). Have you considered trying that? I carve up to 300 calories out of my day so that I can have half of a Blizzard or a chocolate bar or a s'more, and I have what I want every single day, if I want it, without guilt. Cutting out the guilt really takes the power away from the "trigger" foods. I don't know how many calories you are aiming for, but if you were going to go for 1200, why not consider trying 1500, with 300 of them being "bad" foods? I aim for 1800 with 300 allotted for those foods. Usually I find that I don't end up eating all my calories because an amazing thing happens. When I know I'm reserving 300 calories for some ice cream or something, I don't have as big a problem avoiding mindless eating. And, I don't binge nearly as often. Currently I've gone almost 17 full days without going off track calorie wise. May not sound like much to some, but for someone who used to go overboard all day, every day, it's a huge accomplishment. Plus, sometimes if I've gone very heavy on fruits/veggies and lean dairy, then I have even more extra calories left over and can really splurge if I want to, but usually I don't need to. Whatever you decide to do, I hope it starts working like you want it to! If you start feeling discouraged or down again, definitely come to us, we all know what it's like!

Thanks Staci and yes I have considered it and try to do that. Most of my overeating comes from normal food for me. Or fast food!! So there is really no way to incorporate fast food into my daily diet so...I am thinking of a weekly kind of thing that will save me not only calories but money as well!! The only other thing I really like is ice cream and yes if I really want it then it can be worked into my plans!! Thanks again for your input!!

Saving money and calories is always a plus, since a lot of "healthy" foods at the store cost more than the unhealthy versions. Now, I'm not trying to be the devil's advocate by trying to convince you to eat out every day, but I've done it before to where I have fast food 5+ times a week and still lost weight. I just looked up the nutrition info for my favorite places and used it. I even have a 3 ring binder where I have the nutrition information for McDonalds, Taco bell, Arbys, Subway, Sonic, Pizza Hut, Cold Stone Creamery and more. Most places you could manage to have a "meal" for 500-600 calories or less, which is a lot, but if you are doing 1500 a day and eat the rest of your calories as fruits, veggies, low fat dairy products and lean meats/grains, you should be able to do it. The great thing about doing that is that after about 3-5 days I get sick of it anyway, LOL! If you want, I'll post some of my favorite 300-600 calorie "meals" at some of these places just to give you ideas, and, no, none of them are salads because I don't like salad. It's real food from the real menu :).
Staci
p.s. Sorry if I'm being annoying with all this info, it just took me forever with trial and error to get to where I can do this weight loss thing and live a "normal" life, so I try to offer what info I can when I can.
Angela, I so understand what you're coming from. I was going through the same thing except my progress is much much worse.... I lost 30 lbs in a year.
So I guess you're on the high wave too.. wanting to see
Thanks Mary ANd Staci. Okay yesterday I was going to try to go for the 1200 calories but I was still a little hungry So I went a little over 1500 but my fat is the big thing I am watching. I have realized over the months that watching my fat intake more than my calories is the key for me. If I eat lower fat then I lose even if I eat 2000 calories a day. SO my goals are to stay below 1600 versus the 1800-2000 I was aiming for, and to keep my fat levels as low as I can with that 1600 or less. THEN after I get used to it and stay at 1600 or lower for a few weeks I will try to lower it to 1400 and go from there. At this moment in time all the calculators I use say I need 2600 calories or more to maintain SO I am going by that for now and trying it for a couple weeks. I drank 64 oz of water yesterday so I am glad of that. THat means I am getting back on track with my water. As for the fast food, I too have lost while eating out on a regular basis but no more than a lb/week so I am going to try to stay away from it except on weekends.
My Plan:
To get back to drinking 64 oz of water a day and try to work up to 100 oz
To eat 1600 calories or less a day and watch my fat intake
to go back to exercising next week if my leg and back doesn't start back hurting
I think if I can keep my fat levels below 50g I should do okay. Right now my range is 29-64g per day.
Yes Staci you can post and see if there is anything different I don't know about. I have studied and printed out those menus myself before cuz when I was in school on campus I had to eat out or not eat at all. I didn't have time to eat lunch no other way. It was classes back to back then straight back to pick up the kids from school so that it was 3 before I got home to eat anything after leaving home at 730 in the morning to drop kids off and get to my first class (I drove an hour 1 way to attend classes and during interstate rush hour to boot). I barely had time for bfast, and most of the tiem I didn't eat unless once I dropped Ds off at my parents house they made me. LOL I have never been a bfast person and that is proving to be a big challenge for me. I don't think my metabolism has slowed too much because of it cuz it has been my whole life story so maybe my body is used to it.
Thanks again for input and advice!!

Angela,
I am SO with Audrey on this one... your timeline is a thing of beauty! I know you're married, but I'm not sure your DH can possibly appreciate you as much as I do right now!
