what now?

I've been a little heavy my whole life. I always wanted to do something about it, so when I turned 18, I joined a carnival. It was a lot of physical work, and I really didn't have a whole lot of time to eat. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I went from around 250 lbs. down to 170 in about 2 months. I know that's not very healthy to lose weight that fast, but it worked. I kept at 170 for almost 3 years... Well, I got pregnant and had my son, who is now 9 months old. Problem is, I gained a lot of weight. I am at 240 right now. I have no idea how to lose it, as joining the carnival isn't an option anymore. I feel kind of stuck. I work 40 hrs a week at a restaurant, and have very little time for exercise. I eat pretty healthy, but I can't seem to lose any weight. actually I have gained even since the baby was born... any suggestions?

I don't really have any advice to offer since I am still trying to figure it all out myself so I just want to say welcome and good luck!

Welcome to the board!
The best way to start would be to keep a food journal and write down EVERYTHING you eat, and how much of it. It's amazing how we often think we are eating healthy, but little things add up. Measure what you are eating until you learn to judge by sight. After a few days to a week of keeping track of your current eating, use something like Fitday.com or sparkpeople.com to figure out how many calories you really are eating. If you want, you can even post your journal down below and I could help you figure it out (I can probably tell you a good guesstimate on the calorie content on most anything you will eat---I've been a calorie counter for years.) After you see what yuo are really eating, look for ways to cut calories, since that's the only way to lose weight. Good luck and I hope to see you around.

p.s. If you are looking for low calorie meal ideas, just check out some of the journals below for inspiration, or the recipe section.
Hello and welcome to the board.
I also recommend journaling. Even with eating healthy you can be eating too much and afterall it's the total calories that count. Also just because something is healthy it doesn't mean it's low calorie. So you have to take care of that as well. If you're not sure about the calorie content, the easiest thing is to plug everything
I think so.
