Lost over 100 pounds!

I've been going to LA Weight Loss, for the past 10 months. I've now lost a total of 104.4 pounds! I can't believe it! I'm wearing a size 16 now, when I started this diet I was in a size 28 and weighed 320 pounds!

I think what's really helped me is I've taken an attitude of eating as healthy as I can, I choose diet whole wheat bread over white, eat lots of fruits and vegetables a big variety. I try not eat the same foods two days in a row. Stay away from processed foods completely.

I walk half an hour to an hour a day, usually I get it in 15 minute increments, 15 minutes before work, on my breaks at lunch, ect.
I try to do aerobics and jogging and stuff, and I'm usually good for a week but than slack off the next week, back and forth. But I'm very consistent about walking!

Anyway having weighed over 250 pounds by the time I was 14 years old, I can't get over how I look and feel. I'm constantly shocked to see myself in the mirror, or sitting down in a lawn chair and feeling like it's to BIG for me! Instead of worrying about if I'll be able to get out of it I'm squeezed so tight inside it!

Also throughout I've set little goals for myself. I never thought in terms of I'm going to lose 100 pounds! I thought instead. I want to lose 10 pounds by thanksgiving. I want to be under 300 pounds by christmas. I want to fit into a size 22 by valentine's day.

I'm still losing, my next goal is to hit 110 pounds by the 22nd of July, by husband's company Barbeque is than, most of those people haven't seen me since before I started losing weight!

Oh and I give myself lots of rewards, to make up for not being able to reward myself with food. At first I gave myself a weekly reward. If I managed to stick to my diet all week, on friday I would allow myself to go to the mall and spend $20 on a way to expensive bottle of handlotion ($20 WAS at least WHAT I figured I used to spend on candy, ice cream and fast food per week)

Good luck to everyone! Remember it can be done.

Thats fantastic! I too have been heavy my WHOLE life, and am finally sick of it. (Both literally and figuratively) I started this last time around at about 349 pounds. I'm only down by about 10 pounds so far, but at least I haven't GAINED another 10 pounds. Rewarding yourself once a week sounds like a good motivator. I think I'll give it a try. Like, if I stick to my plan all week, I'll put whatever money I would have spent on junk food in savings or something like that. Besides, it might help me to save up for the new truck I want eventually. :-) Thanks for the great post. It reminds me that it isn't so far-fetched an idea for me to reach my goals.

I know this is an old post, but I missed it!! That is so wonderful!!!!! My sister also did LA weight loss, and had a lot of success with it. I think somewhere around 40 pounds, and she didn't exercise at all. I totally would do the program myself, but can't afford it....:( But that is okay. Like was said, I think consistency is the real key, and eating healthy and everything. But congrats!!!! That is so wonderful, and you should be so proud of yourself!!!!!!!

I think it's great that you have lost, and are still losing weight. It's so hard, so to see someone buckle down and do it is wonderful. If you wouldn't mind can you give us some tips that would work for those of us who are still DEEP in the struggle?

Congradulations

Okay, everyone's struggle with dieting is different but here's whats working for me. When I started this diet I went into knowing it was going to be hard work. In past I started diets happy and optistimistic, I'd be dreamily scoping out size 6 clothes before I had even lost the firts pound. And I failed miserable at those diets.

Instead this diet I went into it frowning, knowing it was going to be extremely hard, with just grim determination just to do it. Also even though the weight loss center gave me a goal weight of 170, I just ignored it. I set a goal of simply getting back under 300 pounds.
When I made that goal, I set another one to lose 10% of my body weight which was 32 pounds! Since everything I read said that losing just 10% makes a huge difference to your health.
Each time I reached one of my goals I set a new one. To get to 250, to fit in a size 18, to weight less than my husband (235), ect. And I gave myself dates, realistic dates to accomplish those goals by. I keep my eye on those goals. Telling myself when I reach that goal I can relax a little. But when I do reach a goal, I usualy feel so good about myself, that I cruise right through it and keep losing.

I still have 50 pounds to lose to get to my BIG goal weight. I try not to think about that, because it's so daunting. Instead my current goal is to get to 199. which will be for the first time since I was in like the 7th grade.

I also was writing about rewarding yourself. Don't save up for a big reward at the end, you need to give yourself constant rewards throughout the process. The way I looked at it, was that food was this immediate satisfying reward it made me feel good, so I had to replace it with something else. A fantasy about buying lots of clothes a year from now wasn't going to satisfy that need. Which is why i made it a point to do something each week for myself. And planned bigger reward each time I hit a goal. Like a full body massage,(at 75 pounds) or dyeing my hair blond (when I lost 50). Getting contacts (when I hit 250.)

Now I've kindof of broken the habit of rewarding myself, so I no longer do the weekly rewards, but for the first 5 or 6 months it was those weekly little luxuarys I allowed myself ,that kept me happy and gave me something to look forward to, as I passed up the cookies in the office, or settled for a salad at dinner when I really wanted a big juicy hamburger with fries. Instead of munching on ice cream or buttered popcorn while watching TV, i got out my very expensive cream and massaged it into my hands and feet.

Just wanted to say that I think your attitude is wonderful. The way you setup your goals and rewards and the way you focus on how to get to these goals without being overwhelmed with the big goal is great. Sometimes when you look at the big goal and look at your 1 lb progress you get discouraged because you don't think it's making that much of a difference.

I also like that you set time frames for your goals. I never set time frames before and I used to stall forever (not gaining, but not in a hurry to lose KWIM?) I set a goal date this time and I am working towards it. I think it makes a big difference.

Thanks for sharing.. I wish you all the luck in the remaining pounds.. and I have the feeling that you'll be there very soon
