New here and need lots of support!

Hi, everyone! My name is Kathy and I live in Utah with DH, DS 16, DD 11 1/2, and DS 7.

Well, I started dieting on my own about 2 months ago, and only managed to stay with it for about 3 weeks, during which time I lost about 10 lbs. I've been floundering since, but haven't gained any back (that's ONE small victory!) I decided it was time to get some support.

I've done WW in the past, with moderate success, but when I quit I always gain it back and then some. I devloped my own plan, based on healthy eating habits with some built-in treats so I wouldn't feel deprived and give up. Basically, I came up with a simple plan I call "A for Effort" and made a simple spread sheet with different points for different behaviors, (eg, healthy breakfast, exercise, etc) totaling 100 points. This easily allows me to see how I did that day and what areas need improving the next day. Then I give myself a "grade" for the day. It's a great way to stay on track and not focus so much on pounds, but on making good choices each day. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to send you a copy and see what you think. One thing I really like about it is that it can be easily adapted to any plan you're following by simply changing the items to fit what you need to work on and what's important to you.

My short term goal is to lose 10 lbs more and fit into my jeans more comfortably. My DH and I are going on our first cruise in Nov, so that's my intermediate goal. I know I won't be at goal by then, but a loss of 30-40 lbs would be great. When we got married 13 years ago, I had lost about 60 lbs. Looking back on pictures of me then helps me want to look that great again (even though I'll never look that young again!)

You're so wrong.. losing 10lbs AND keeping them off is a HUGE victory. Congratulations!!!


Your 'A for Effort' plan looks very interesting.. can I have a look at the spreadsheet? TIA
