I have been trying to lose weight for the past 3 weeks and I am sooo frustrated. I am 5'6 and 348lbs. My goal weight is 180lbs. I have been eatting about 2000 calories a day and exercising for 1-2 hours a day 5 days a week. I have been watching everything that has crossed my lips, and it has even gotten to the point that I am now afraid of certain foods. I just need a balance-- what am I doing wrong? I will lose a few pounds and for the past 2 weeks they will come right back. I haven't cheated on my diet at all, and most of the time its hard to even eat all of that food. I am eatting whole foods home made everything. HELP! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

First off, welcome to the board! Secondly, there are A LOT of us who are dealing with the same problems you are, so you came to the right place! I just posted something about this same type of thing down below. My problem is that I've been eating about 1500 calories/day and exercising every day and haven't seen the scale move at all in almost 3 weeks. Some common problems when the scale keeps rebounding: are you eating too much sodium? Are you getting enough water? Are you measuring your portions? The portions thing is a big one, because you may think you are eating 200 calories worth of food when it's really 300, etc. I know you've been watching what you eat, but have you kept an actual journal and measured everything? If not, I would do that for at least a week and see if that helps. Make sure you are drinking tons of water, because the more you drink, the more your body lets go of. Sometimes when we see quick jumps in the scale it's water weight. Finally, keep up your exercise and make sure you take your measurements! Your scale may not be going down because of the exercise, but we know it's good for us and eventually that darn thing will move (I have faith, LOL!) if we continue eating healthy and exercising. By taking your measurements you have another way to judge other than the scale. I've lost inches and 2%! body fat in the past 3 weeks even though the # on the scale isn't dropping, so I know it's helping a ton. Good luck with your continued efforts and congratulations on what you've already accomplished!

Hello---Thank You so much.
SODIUM that may very well be the problem. i have noticed that I am slightly bloated lately. it is good to know that there are people out there going through this as well, at least now i don't feel so alone in this. Reading your reply has made me realize that this is going to be a looooong battle (hopefully an uphill battle). I want this more that anything in the world, i don't want to die because of my weight.
Laura
Thank you so much for the warm welcome.

Welcome to the board... I was facing the same situation a couple of weeks ago. Take some measurements. Sometimes the scale doesn't move but you're still losing inches. I finally took that advice and I am actually seeing drops in inches and this is making me happy. The journal is a great idea too. And don't forget the water (it will help with the bloating)
Crossing my fingers for you and hoping for a big drop soon. Good luck and keep us posted
