I've eaten SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly this week. I'm still sworn off of fried food, but there are

Poor baby! I've had that happen. let's see here's some ideas,
1)ONly make enough food for 1 serving each! Than dish up everyone's plate, take out your portion first and divide the rest between everyone else. I know some might complain, but we all need to eat healthier from kids to adults, and no one needs more than one sloppy joe! Make a large salad and encourage people to fill up on that if they are still hungry!
2) leave the food on the stove that way people have to go to stove for seconds, don't put the food on the table, unless it's healthy veggies. It's to easy just to reach out and take 2nds (or 3rds or 4ths) while you talk or wait for the kids to finish their food.
3)After you've eater your yummy main dish, immediatly eat some salad, celery, or grab a piece of gum, or go brush your teeth, that way you get the flavor of the food out of your mouth and you be less likely to crave more!
4) if all else fails, jump up and throw the food in the garbage or down the garbage disposal. If it ceases to exist you can't overeat it. I've actually done this with pizza. after I found myself mindlessly reaching for the 4th slice,(after everyone else had finished) I realized that I couldn't stop and jumped up and through the whole thing in the garbage and than I dump coffee grounds on top of it! Just to make sure!
It may seem drastic but you'd applaud an alcoholic who dumps a bottle of alcohol down the sink rather than face the temptation. Food is no different for us!
I hope my ideas help.

Great post, Sara!
Another thing you could do is to immediately put leftovers in the fridge. Like right after you fix a plate for everyone. That way, the food isn't sitting there calling to you from the stove or the table. I have that problem a lot. I hope these suggestions were helpful to you. And you are right, Sara. It would be a good idea for EVERYONE in the family to watch portion sizes. Only making enough food for 1 serving each is a wonderful approach to better portion control.

And so you shall!! it takes time but we will get stronger!! Everyday is a constant battle, and some days are worse than others, but we just have to keep on keeping on and we will get there. This is the first time in my life, I haven't thrown in the towel after a few weeks and said aww the hell with it, I am gonna eat what I want when I want and to heck with what others think. IF I can stick with it ANYONE can!!! I may be losing slower than I would like but hey sometimes you gotta do what you can and deal with it!! Geez I have been at this for almost 10 weeks now, that is a record for me!! I haven't lost much, but I have lost!! That is all that matters. I am just tickled to be under 250 again!! LOL
Good luck to you today, I too have days where I don't want anything all day then pig out at night. Today was one of those days, but I ate with DH and DD anyways!!
