Hi, I'm new here - well, sort of new - I used to spend time on this board about 6 or 7 years ago. At that time I weighed 315 lbs. and over about 2 years got down to 175, my lowest weight since Jr. High School. I felt great, my self-esteem significantly improved, and I was active and hiking on the weekends and really feeling better than I ever have in my life. Then a barrage of personal changes and everything went down the toilet. Since then I have gained back most of what I lost. I am now all the way back up to 265, and facing a serious depression if I don't do something about this. I am just about at my wits end with everything - trying to keep it together, and always turning to food for comfort and as an escape. I need help. I find that I am able to get motivated from time to time, but then something emotional will happen and I’m back to my old habits. I am constantly sabotaging my efforts. Recently I got back into eating healthy and exercising and lost around 15 pounds, felt great, and then due to the emotional turmoil in my relationship, packed back on all the 15 pounds I had worked so hard to lose by giving up and turning to food to push down all my feelings. I was on the right track, and feeling so much better because of it, and yet again I went right back to my old habits, so now I feel even worse, letting the regret of these recent mistakes get me down.
I need a new positive outlook – I need a new start so I can move past these recent failures and re-commit to getting healthy. So I thought I would log on here again for some of the support that I found so helpful years ago.
Really looking forward to getting to know all of you, and hoping I can be of some support to you as well.

Hello Kristin and welcome to the board. I am sorry to hear that you're depressed, but you know what? You're here and you are willing to commit and lose the weight. I think this is half the battle by itself... to get yourself mentally there. Forgot about the past and make a fresh start. You can do this and we'll be here to support you and cheer you on until you reach your goal weight.
