Hello. My name is Annie. I'm 43, 5'7", and 242 lbs. (Down 10 lbs so far.) I am a mom to two wonderful kids--aged 5 and almost 7--and have a tremendous husband who has complete fat-blinders on when he sees me. I'm currently a SAHM who left a busy job four years ago when we adopted our two kids. Though maintaining a healthy weight has always been a struggle for me, the last 50 lbs. came with years of infertility treatment and the grief over our lack of success. Becoming an overnight mommy to two at home with a fridge of food just rounded out my already round body.
Four months ago my father passed away rather unexpectedly of a rare virus. He was diabetic but otherwise extremely fit and health conscious and at 80 could outpace most people in their 60s. It was a tremendous gift to have him with us, but more than his mere presence was the blessing of his vitality and vibrance. He experienced a real turn around thirty years ago when his diabetes was diagnosed. Losing him has given me great pause, and for perhaps the first time in my life I'm inspired to correct my weight problem out of health concerns rather than vanity. Not for the reflection in the mirror or the size of my pants, but for my kids, my husband, and future grandkids.
Anyway, I feel lucky to have found this group. I look forward to taking this life journey with you.

Hello and welcome to the group! My name is Melissa and I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 242 pounds. I've lost 32 pounds now and my final goal weight is 150 so I have a way to go. This board has helped me out a lot.
It is so nice to have other people go through the same experiences that we have and understand the pain, etc.
