First of all, I totally deserve it if not one of you responds to me.

There has been a lot of that inexplicable weight gain going on, It hit me and Misha I know, I think Mary has had some too. I have been having migraines everyday for 2 weeks so my memory is fuzzy cuz most of my time on the puter is through pain meds, so I can't remember all but I know I gained 6 lbs in 2 day!! Yep, made me mad at the scale and I haven't weighed much since. BUT I am back down now so it had to be waterweight. I was told by someone that heat can make you bloat worse. chalk it up to bloating and a bad few weeks and don't beat yourself up. What do you consider a healthy weight to start TTC again? I mean you have 5 months til the first of Jan so.....I would think in 5 months you could lose at least another 20 lbs or so and should be at a healthy enough weight to TTC without fear of gaining so much that it will be hard to lose afterwards. I wouldn't say you have to get all the way to 130 before TTC. Good luck to you and try not to let it get to you!!

Hi, Sarah!

First of all, I think everyone will just be happy to hear from you... so don't worry about THAT. I know I am! And we all have times when we're not as active or supportive as we might like on the board (oh, okay, I meant ME, but it happens to other folks, too, right? ;-)

Secondly, is it right that you're just about 5 pounds off your monthly goal? That's not a wonderful feeling, but it's also not that bad. Look at how far you've already come, and how much more weight you're likely to lose before January. I predict you'll make it. And I for one am ready for you to add another cutie to your signature pic.

As Angela said, I had major scale traumas this month, too. In fact, I registered a 6.5 lb gain in two days.. let's hear it for over-achievement! One of those days was all fruits and vegetables, with plenty of water and some exercise... but sadly no BP meds, one of which is a diuretic. Way to sabotage yourself! But I'm back on track now, I think, though still not where I should be, and still v-e-r-y bloated. It's been hot and humid here as well, and I truly believe that exacerbates the problem--- why, I'm not sure. But two days after I returned from dry New Mexico to humid sweaty Baltimore, my feet were so swollen I could barely get into flipflops.

One worry: When it's this miserably hot, please be careful about overdoing the exercise. Maybe you could try a jolt to the system with a moderately high-calorie day or two, just to see what happens, instead of burning up the treadmill.

Hang in there, darlin', and in a month or so when it finally cools off a bit, maybe we'll all get a scale shock of a different sort. (Or we can all move in with Mary... in lovely dry Cairo!)

Since the weight gain came from increasing your weights, it might have been a gain in muscle. Since muscle weights more than fat. But what ever the reason, keep on going! You can do it.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! If I had to venture a guess, I would guess it had something to do with the weather, TOM, and everything combined. When the temperatures are so extreme, our bodies don't seem to know how to react, and we do tend to retain more water. I know when I go walking and it's 100 outside I am usually bloated for the next day or so. I have dealt with my own frustrations with the scale lately and regularly see drops and jumps, but none as big as 9 lbs. The good thing about that is that you know there's NO WAY you gained that much in one week. The bad thing is thinking about how long it might take to get it off :(. Have you tried changing up your diet? Last week I went low calorie and in turn pretty low carb (about the only carbs I had were from fruits and veggies and dairy) on 2 different days and for the first time in about 5 weeks I saw a drop on the scale of more than 1 lb for the week. Maybe trying something like that could help you? I mixed those days with some high calorie days, so in the end my calories for the week were the same, but my body reacted better to the guessing game.

Hugs and hang in there and don't ever feel bad about asking for support! You've done so awesome so far, it will happen eventually!

You gained too? What's up with that weird month?

If you're on track then there is nothing to worry about. I gained a bit this month but I went gung ho on food for a couple of days (darn vacation).. still it didn't explain the huge peak. But I'm back to normal today and I haven't even been super good. So I guess if it's not an explained gain then you don't have to worry about it? Just keep going on and the weird reason that put it there will get rid of it. or something like that :)

Glad you dropped by :)

On another note.. fifth child??!! You're some brave woman

What *is* up this month? I had an unexplained gain of 8 pounds over 2 or 3 days - it's been driving me nuts, hoping it is water retention and will go back down, but nothing yet. It does make me feel a bit better knowing I am not the only one having this problem, but doesn't really help explain it any better for me, since the weather here has been much cooler than it was a few weeks ago...

I am just trying not to focus on it and let it discourage me, which is hard, especially since I just started getting back into healthier eating, but I am determined.

Good luck all of you.
