New here and need help

Hello,
I am new to these boards. I am 33 years old, 5'5" and I weigh 258 pounds. I am miserable. I have a 10 1/2 month old son, that I did not gain my weight with. I actually lost weight while I was pregnant with him. I had gestational diabetes, so I watched everything I put in my mouth. Everything I eat is high calorie, or at least it seems that way nowadays.
I can't get motivated to eat better or exercise. I work full time and then when I get home, I put in several more hours. Please point me in the right direction. I have very little energy and I always feel Blah! I need more energy, my little guy is on the brink of walking and then it will be chasing after him and right now, I don't have the energy to do it.
Thanks.

Hi there, I think you'll find lots of understanding and support here. I know first hand how draining little ones can be!
Maybe you're expecting too much too fast. What if you started taking baby steps just as your little one is trying to do? Most kids don't just stand up and sprint one day, they learn to walk bit by bit, day by day. You could set one mini-goal per day or even week and just start changing that little thing. I find for myself the more that I do that's "on track" with improving my health and lifestyle, the less I want to do anything that would impede my progress.
Good luck and welcome!
Annie
hi my name is sara and I know the pain you are going through, minus the child. I am 5'3'' and I weigh 251. I am making little changes along with big changes, like parking way way way out in the parking lot so I have to walk that much farther to do what I need to do, and always taking the stairs where you can and also, I am cutting back on what I what and how much I eat and i am not eating take out or fast food at all. I also have a few motivators:I want my childern to be healthy and at 251 I cannot teach them to be healthy, and I want to look good in my wedding dress and I want to be able to wear awsome clothes and not old lady clothes. Also I keep track of what I eat and I keep a journal with my goals menu, schedual, rewards and much other things. If you want to see my journal just go to the getting fit in your twenties message board, look under the journal section, mines caled Sara's new beginning.
good luck, and you can email me any time for anything, encouragement, recapies, health advice, anything, ill always get back to you I promise.
Good luck, I look foreward to hearing from you and about your journey.

Hey guys! I know what you mean about no energy. Sara, I'm 27 and I hate wearing OLD lady clothes too. So I'm here for emotional support and motivation. I need for someone else to hold me accountable since my hubby doesnt:) So, I need some ideas too.

Hello and welcome to the board!!!! Trust me that we all understand where you are coming from. I am 5 ft 2 and currently weigh 242. I started weight watchers on March 13th and weighed in at 274.5 (my highest weight was 281). It is a slow weight loss (they only want you to lose 1-2 pounds per week after the initial weeks). A slower weight loss typically results in keeping it off.
I still have a long way to go (90+ pounds) to reach my goal. This board is amazing and has helped me out very much.
I look forward to getting to know you better!!!
Melissa
Well, in my eyes, you have already taken the 1st step!!!
Hello and welcome to the board. I guess it's pretty safe to say that everyone here understands where you're coming from. But the good news is once you start you notice a lot of change fast.. espcially when it comes to your energy.. even before you can 'see' the weight lost.
Have you ever tried journaling? I find that when I journal what I eat I do much better in my choices. I eat a lot just because food is there and I do a lot of mindless munching and journaling helped with that. Also drinking water helped.
I wish you luck in your journey. Please post often and ive us an update
