Hello. I'm new to this board. I have recently started posting on another board and it has been a good experience, so I decided to come here too. I'm recently divorced and am a single mom trying to "get myself back". So, I've begun the weightloss journey again. Well, I am on a Dr. monitored program(low carb) and have some exciting news to share. Today is my 33rd day on the program and I have lost 28.3 pounds! I began needing to lose 150 pounds. So, I have a LOT more to go, but it's a start. I already feel much better, a bit more energy and my feet hurt far less. My ankles are less swelled at the end of the day. But I have my bad days. Eating such a small amount of food can get draining. I just wanted to introduce myself and am glad I found this board!

Hi! Welcome! Congratulations on your weight-loss - that's great! And very impressive. Can I ask what kind of eating plan you are doing (how many calories?) and how much you are exercising each week? Sounds like you have found a plan that really works!

Best of luck to you on your continuing journey!

Thanks for the support! Yes, I definately have found a plan that works. I honestly don't know how many calories, but it's not very many. I eat 3 small meals a day. The meals are strictly lean meats and veges only. Nothing else. Only certain meats and only certain veges. No fats, butter olive oil. Nothing. And NO sugar. Very low carb. My body has been in Large ketosis since the 2nd day on the plan. It is monitored by my Dr. and I have bloodwork done every other week. The plan is a protein sparing modified fast. It's difficult to find Dr.'s that are trained in it. Lucky for me we have one here in Scottsdale, AZ.

What are you doing for weight loss and how is it going?

Hi. I started at 276 on a 5'1 frame and am 33 years old. As of august 2, I have lost 28.5 pounds in 33 days. Awsome! So, what is a typical meal? First I need to tell you that I am on a very extreme diet through a physician. I have signed waivers that I cannot disclose the details of portions etc. as they are different for every person. There are high risks with this diet including kidney failure, so it's something that you must be monitored by a Dr. to do properly and safely. With I go to see my Dr. every other week for bloodwork, blood pressure check etc. So, this is very serious business that you seek the guidance of a physician before attempting. that said, I will tell you a littlbe bit about what I eat, but this is nothing that I am recommending anyone else to do without the supervision of a physician. And remember, portions are different for everyone depending upon the height, goal weight, metabolism etc. But this is my personal deit that has been developed for my personal body.

Ok. For breakfast I eat an egg or 1/4 cup of egg beater and 3 1/2 ounces of vegetables. My 2 favorites: Breakfast 1: Over easy egg fried in cooking spray and sliced zuchini fried in in cooking spray with salt. Breakfast 2. egg beater omlet with green pepper onion and mushrooms. And in a rush a grab a hard boiled egg and tomatoe slices and eat at work.

For lunch I typically have a grilled chicken salad or deli turkey breast with salad or a lettuce wrap. Usually something very good and tasty. Small portions.

Dinner varies. There are so many good things but I love steamed shrimp with scallops stir fried in spray, little water and soy sauce with veges. Also, I grill alot of 4 oz steaks and chicken breasts(skinless boneless) and have grilled romaine or steamed veges or a salad.

All portions are quite small. It's not the atkins diet because you don't get anyhting unlmited and no fat. The only fat I get is the fat the comes naturally in LEAN meats. I have a cerain list of meats to eat from and certain list of veges. Ketchup is not even allowed. I mean this is almost a carbless, fatless diet.

If you want to try to find someone who specializes in this diet it is a "Protein Sparing Modifed Fast". I love this diet. I'm not hungry, it's easy to stay on, and I get to be creative with the way that I cook my food. It's awsome! Basically you are puting your body into a fasting state so that you burn your own fat for energy. But you eat just enough protein and veges to prevent your body from using it's own muscle. Which is VERY important. If you don't have the proper balance of veges/protein, you can cause yourself to eat your own muscle, potentially causing heart problems. Plus you in such a high state of ketosis that you lose electrolites and other vitamins and minerals. I go in for So, I'm on a couple of prescriptions for different vitamins and minerals. This is NOT something to try without a physician.

Good luck to you. My Dr. is in Arizona. If you would like her phone number please let me know. Maybe she knows other Dr.'s in the country that do this diet.

Hi. Thanks for being so interested. It is very inspiring for me. I have posted a long post about my diet in response to another poster by the name of sarajane something or other. Should be the posting just before you.

Good luck and let me know if I can help.
