Hello. I'm new to this board. I have recently started posting on another board and it has been a good experience, so I decided to come here too. I'm recently divorced and am a single mom trying to "get myself back". So, I've begun the weightloss journey again. Well, I am on a Dr. monitored program(low carb) and have some exciting news to share. Today is my 33rd day on the program and I have lost 28.3 pounds! I began needing to lose 150 pounds. So, I have a LOT more to go, but it's a start. I already feel much better, a bit more energy and my feet hurt far less. My ankles are less swelled at the end of the day. But I have my bad days. Eating such a small amount of food can get draining. I just wanted to introduce myself and am glad I found this board!

Gosh hon! I hope you can find a Dr. who does this diet. My life is already changing rapidly because of it. After years of Weight Watchers etc. I could lose weight but it was just too slow for me and I would quit. I remember so many times thinking, "I'm doing all of this for nothing!". With this diet, as long as you follow it exact, you lose a significant amount of weight in a very short period of time. Plus, I don't think I'm the type of dieter that can have too many choices or I fall off the band wagon. I'll tell ya, it's hard to get discouraged losing 28.5 pounds in a month! The average weight loss on this diet is .5 pounds per day for women. The average amount of weight that you lose the first 4 months on this diet is 60 pounds! Wow! And I know several people who have done this and lost over 100 pounds in less than a year. Plus, to make it even better, the Dr. I go to has a maintence program and she teaches you new life style skills as you are losing weight and once the weight is off. Which lessons the chance of putting it back on.

I am so thankful to the lord for guiding me to this Dr. I know my life is going to be so different! I'll be able to scuba dive again, water ski again, downhill ski again and just do all of the things I used to do before I had kids.

Keep me posted and if you have more questions, please let me know.

Good morning! I totally agree with you that everyone is different. I think Weight Watchers is a great plan. They have two good plans to choose from and you can really mix up your food choices. It's great. I lost 50 pounds on that plan years ago. Before kids though. For some reason, it just hasn't been working for me over the past couple of years. Well, I shouldn't say the DIET wasn't working for me, but I just was making very poor food choices to use my points. Lots of bad foods like cheese puffs, weight watchers frozen ice cream treats etc. Just too many "allowed" foods for me. That's why I am finding this one so great. There are two SHORT lists of foods to choose from. Although, I've still been able to get creative with them. But I'm glad WW is working well for you. I'm excited to see everyone elses progress too. I went into a plus size clothing store to buy new clothes since I've shrunk..WOOHOO!!! Anyway, I was talking to my mom in the store that I only wanted to by a few items since I'm losing weight so fast. One lady said, "I gave up on that along time ago.". Another lady said, "Hon, you better keep the larger clothes cuz you WILL grow back into them" Talk about discouraging people. I just smiled and kept shopping. NO WAY am I going to keep the larger clothes. I am NOT going to grow back into anything this time. No way. :) It's hard for me to see people giving up on themselves and the happiness they can find being able to be more active in their lives. But I understan, because I've been there before too.

Well, take care and keep up the good work!

I know for me, I always gave up because my doctors said I was in good health even though I was overweight. Now, though, I have some medical conditions that I refuse to live with, conditions that can be fixed by losing weight. That gives me incentive where before I could always rationalize it away.

I'm glad you didn't listen to the ladies saying you'll need your larger clothes again. That just sets you up for failure, and it's a difficult enough road as it is. Keep going, and good luck with you!

(Today is my Day One of South Beach - I have a feeling I'll be on these boards a lot in the next several months.)
