Newbie in need of support

Hello all out there,
I am new to this board. I'm more then 100 pounds over weight and starting yet another diet. I know how to eat right, but I tend to fall off the band wagon after losing a few pounds. I know that I really need some support to make it and this time I am determined to do it! I know I need to exercise more. I've been trying to exercise everyday, but I'm so overweight that even 20 minutes exhausts me. I hate exercise and will appreciate any tips that anyone can give to help me to commit to exercising.
Anyway, I hope to get to know you and help some of you too.

Welcome to the board. I just discovered it myself a couple of weeks ago. There are some really wonderful people who post here.
Here are two things that I keep in mind to help me stay on track:
--If I set the alarm and exercise right away I am much more likely to do it and not get distracted by other stuff.
--Focus on what's working and what I'm doing well. I'm not going to lose all this weight overnight and developing new, better habits takes time. I tell my kids that I don't expect them to be perfect, but when they mess up I do expect them to correct/fix their mistakes. If I get off track, I get BACK on track as fast as possible!
I look forward to "seeing" you around!
All the best,
Annie

Hello, Im Sara, you have come to the right place, we can offer you lots of support and anwsers to any questions and even suggestions.
And now Im going to make a suggestion:
you said 20 minutes of exercize tires you out, so do what you can, and slowly your body will be able to do more and more for longer, and try also to take a walk even if its across the street, slowly you will get there, you just need to keep working on it.
good luck, I am here for you.

I am fairly new in my weight loss. I've been on track for a little over a month. Those first couple of weeks are tough especially if you aren't on a program that offers rapid weight loss. Whether you lose it fast or slow, it will come off with will power and determination. These are some of my tactics to stay on track.
1. When I want something fatning, I remind myself that I wouldn't want to trade the opportunity to wiegh 110 pounds over a donut, or pizza or whatever the food is.
2. Every morning I pray to the lord to just watch over me and help me to be able to make the choices necessary to free myself from being overweight.(I don't know if you have a faith or not, but if so, this really does help). Trust me, there is definately divine intervention in my situation I eat a total of like 18 ouces of food a day and I haven't cheated once, not once.
3. Chips have been a stumbling stone for me in the past. Now, when I go past the chip aisel in the grocery store I look at the people putting chips in their cart intentionally. Most of those people are not people I want to look like. Not being judgemental about them, just that I don't want to look like that anymore.
4. I have heard people say that the way they felt after losing all of their weight was FAR superior to the way that they felt eating fattening foods. I try to remember that when I can't have a piece of wedding cake.
Good luck. If you think of anything inspirational, share them on the board and Good Luck! I know you can do it. We can ALL do it if we stick our minds to it and reach for that goal.
I walked 2 miles today. I felt like I was dying. I know how you feel
Welcome to the board! Sorry I'm a little late in replying, but my Ivillage has been VERRRYYY slow the past couple of days and it frustrates me to no end! Congrats on jumping back on the wagon and good luck! My best tip for exercise is to do it when you can. I often get an hour or more of exercise per day (usually walking or my exercise bike) but it is often done in 15 minute increments while on break at work. Research has proven that three 10 minute sessions per day are just as effective as one 30 minute session when it comes to improving health, so if you have to, break it up. It can actually be more effective that way, because it's a lot easier to give it your all for 10 minutes at a time than it is for 30. Good luck!

Congratulations on the first step - making the decision to change your eating and exercising habits. I hope you are able to stick with it. I think most of us, if not all have started and failed several diets and/or exercise routines in the past.
Here's to all of our success!!!
