Looking for support in my quest!

I just found this web site (where have I been?) and am looking for some support, and certainly willing to help support all of you out there!
I am 45 and have to lose about 120 pounds. I have already lost nearly 25 pounds, but it has been slow going and I'm starting to get discouraged. I was exercising at least four days a week, but have gotten tired of the same routine (I belong to Curves) so I'm lucky if I get there twice a week lately. My eating could be so much better. I know the tools I need, but it really helps me to have people who understand the struggle because they too are going through it. My husband is great support for me, but he is only about 10 pounds overweight. He is willing to eat just about anything I make without complaint so eating at home is no problem.
I hope to get to know some of you and hopefully we can help each other!
Gina

Welcome to the board, and you came to the right place for support! Everyone here is struggling/has struggled with the same issues you deal with. Congratulations on how far you've come already and good luck on your remaining journey! If you are bored with your routine, look for something else to do. I often do 2-4 15 minute walks a day around the neighborhood. It's short enough so I don't get bored, but long enough that I feel great when I'm done. It may take a while, but figure out what yuo really like, and stick with it (this goes for both diet AND exercise). Good luck and stick around!

Hi Gina. I just started at this website, as well. So far, I am loving it. Everybody is very nice and supportive. Good luck to you on your goals. One of the other girls posted a website - fitday.com. I checked it out yesterday and it seems really cool. You might want to look into it, too.

Hey Gina,
Welcome aboard! You and I have a lot in common. I'm 43 and married to a guy who has been a normal weight all his life and maybe is 10 or so pounds above his ideal weight. Neither of us is a compulsive eater, but since he can actually forget to eat (uh, maybe when I'm sleeping) I struggle much more with food.
I don't go to a gym but have a treadmill, nordic track and weights in my home and I still get bored. I do try to mix it up with walks outside, gardening, and aerobics either on DVD or tape or on TV. (We have "On Demand" programming on our cable and they have some pretty cool, short workouts on the fitness channel.) I also pop on a pedometer (really cheap, just a couple of bucks at KMart) because I feel inspired if I have quantitative results of my progress beyond the scale.
The hardest thing of all is for us to be realistic about how long it will take to lose so much weight. I don't know about you, but I really want to keep it off this time and will put up with a slower loss if it means I'm moving toward a lifetime change. Keep the faith! Annie
