Hi I just wanted to say hello to everyone, I'm new to the board. I'm 5'9" and weigh 285. I'm very unhappy with my self and my body image. I have lost weight before (75lbs) and within a year it was back on. I guess I need modivation. Can you help me with your support. My biggest problem is with junk food, candy, icecream, cookies, just alot of junk. I just need some support to get modivated. Thanks in advance

You will find great support and empathy here.
I completly know what you are faced with. I am also 5'9" and love junk food. I could eat junk food all the time. I just love the tast of the sweet and salty. However, I must say that I have been in this for about 3-4 weeks and the cravings have stopped and on top of that the energy and good spirits have soared.
One step at a time. Be real gentle with yourself. Take care of you, your the only one who can do it 100%.
Welcome!
I am new to the board as well, but have been reading over old posts, and I truly feel that the encouragement and comfort in talking with others that are going through the same ups and downs will help me through my battles. I know it can help you too. I too am a HUGE junk food (mostly fast food for me) freak. I could live off of burgers and fries and those heavenly McFlurries, and I did live off that junk for years...and where did it get me? It got me 153lbs of excess weight. The weight brought with it pain (physical and emotional) and a general sense of self-loathing. I have found that the only way to break my horrible fast food binging is to find ways to "trick" my mind into thinking that I am still eating the same fatty crud. I eat a lot of turkey burgers...I know they sound awful and bland, but they can actually be quite good. I have also started eating 6 small meals a day. That keeps my blood sugar and metabolism at a constant, so I never get a chance to feel hungry or deprived. Also...I am a huge fan of those darling little 100-calorie snack packs. I think that the little Doritos are adorable, and the Oreos are delicious. I allow myself one little snack pack a day and I have found that it really helps curb my craving. Finally, I am a firm believer in allowing yourself small indulgences. I keep a small bag of bite-sized snickers in the freezer. That way when I get a hankering for that dreaded chocolate, I can pull one of those little treasures out of the freezer and suck on it for a while.
Keep posting and good luck on your weight loss journey.
Dianne
Welcome!
Dianne,
I make turkey burgers frequently, and after reading your post thought I would share my recipe. They are soo tasty after they get doctored up a bit. This came from a Wegith Watchers book- I don't know if everyone is familiar with the points- but each burger is only 3-4 points- depending on how much stuff you add. We also never eat them on buns. Ok here goes:
1 lb. lean ground turkey
Worschteshire Sauce (sp??)
Ketchup
Salt
Pepper
Chili powder
Hot sauce
FF seasoned bread crumbs
Mix it all up- and form into 4 patties. With the sauces- I just add axp 1/2-1 TBS. Plus I really like spice- but they are good without the hot sauce and chili powder.
These are one of my husbands favorites! Watch out though- they do not cook well on our propane grill- I make them in a pan.
Have a great weekend!
Here is the kicker 1/3 C shredded FF cheese
I just wanted to wish you luck on your journey!
That is an excellent Turkey Burger recipe. I will have to try that. I LOVE spicy food! I usually add green onions, seasoned bread crumbs, a little mustard, worchestershire (I'm not sure how to spell that) sauce, and some sort of herbs...usually parsley or thyme. My recipe changes a little bit everytime. Sometimes I grill the green onions before I add them to the ground turkey. They are also really good with caramelized onions and mushrooms with a little bit of FF shreded swiss cheese. I almost always grill the burgers outside or use my George Forman grill to cook them. I don't use buns either, but they are excellent on a bed of butter lettuce with a nice slice of garden fresh tomato on top.
Glad to know someone else out there is a fan of the ol' turkey-burgs.

Greetings from a fellow sweetaholic! I never got my rid of my sweet tooth completely but I know that things get better with time. I don't (usually) crave the sugar as much as I used to. But what really helps is not to keep any junk around the house. Sometimes I just need to get something.. open the fridge, open the cupboards, but I can't find anything I like. This is not real hunger (because if it was a fruit would sound appealing) this is plain fishing for junk. But if it is not there, you can't eat it. Also I like to schedule a weekly indulgence. I tell myself that if I was good all week I can have a cheesecake or a super big sundae or whatever I crave... and it keeps me going all week (usually LOL.. I was messing up lately)
