Hi there. I think it really helps if you have set meals and snacks, and aren't just grazing throughout the day.... try measuring out each serving so you know exactly how much you are really eating in terms of calories.. after you finish give yourself some time to "feel full"... If you do eat more then make yourself compensate for it by some extra exercise. In my experience I'm much less likely to eat a lot if I exercise earlier in the day because I don't want to ruin my hard work. Hope this helps!

Maryanne,
Sorry to hear that you're struggling. It can be so frustrating when the scale goes the wrong way, even if we know why. Ugh. Here are a couple of things that help me keep from grabbing foods I shouldn't:
--I keep stuff that I can eat without guilt around. Raw veggies, fruit, Wasa crispbreads, turkey breast, etc.
--I always drink a full glass of water before I snack on anything!
--I chew sugarless sgum when I am cooking or getting something tempting ready for my kids. (Cheetos and wintergreen gum just don't mix. Blecch!)
Good luck! I hope this week will be more controlled for you!

Maryanne,
I know how you are feeling. I am a HUGE emotional eater- and when I am down- the scale is up. Perhaps there is a stressor in your life triggering your eating? I have found that prayer and excercise(honestly) have worked for me- as well as posting on this board. It can be so hard to push through- but I wihs you the best of luck and send some happy thoughts your way! You can do it ;)
Oh Maryanne,
I know exactly how you feel. My first suggestion is to find a plan that will work for you. In my case I tried atkins for about 3 weeks and totally crashed, simply because I am a carb fiend. I had to find something that allowed me eat not only carbs, but also didn't leave me feeling deprived at the end of the day. After many fruitless attempts at dieting, I met with a dietician. The first and most important thing she taught me, is that I should not think of it as a diet...but a "life-style change" and that I should start my transition slowly. The weight gain didn't happen overnight, and neither will the weight loss. Set small goals and when you stick to them, reward yourself. I like to have my hair cut and highlighted for my small rewards, and when I hit 200, I'm going to spend the day getting pampered at a day spa. I can't wait. I have found that I really look forward to my rewards, and though it isn't easy, often times, they are what keep me on track. Just remember losing 100 lbs seems daunting, but losing 10 lbs, 10 times doesn't seem that bad...especially if you get to treat yourself to something special every time.
Hope this helped,
Dianne
