ok call me crazy, but i am lazy. i have all these really healthy cerals at home, but i don't want to get up and make them. i know a bowl, a spoon, milk, and pour, how hard is that? well extremly seeming i'm a lazy, extremly over worked, underpaid, under appreciated college student. so i'm going to try my hand at making homemade bagels. now here's the story. i live in houghton michigan, map quest it, you'll find how little this town is. we DO NOT have anywhere to get bagels other than frozen at wal-mart. and besides those bagels are huge and i don't want to spend 4 bucks on 6 bagels or something. anyways. so i'm going to go and get the things i need to make home made whole wheat bagels. now i can get a bag of flour and some yeast for about the same price for 6 bagels. but i can make as many as my little heart wants. and here's what i'm going to do, i'm going to eat half a bagel with reduced fat peanut butter in the morning. it's easy and on the go. heck i could even leave my jar of peanut butter at work so i don't even have to do it at home. now how fun does this all seem? completly if you're me and trying to be extremly cheap on food. (i can make hamburger helper last all week if i have to) so tomorrow i will tell you ladies how my excursion went in the bagel making field.

Hey Crazy...I mean Audrey, I'm cheap too and I'll sometimes pour cereal in a bowl before I go to bed, cover it with plastic wrap and put it on the table with a napkin and spoon just so I'll guilt myself into eating cereal that I bought and then didn't eat. Sometimes when I'm craving a bagel I make myself wheat toast (100% whole wheat with 50 or so cals/slice) and top that with a little pb&j action. How'd it go with the bagels? If the recipe doesn't call for wheat flour you might need to moisten the dough a little (LOT) more. Good luck! Annie

they were mighty tasty. ok i didn't loko at baking my own bagels as less lazy. but in the morning grabbing a bagel and going is much lazier than eating a bowl of cereal.

i can't sit in my kitchen, unless it's on the floor. the bagels were very yummy. i've had a request to make pretzels later tonight. and homemade mac 'n cheese.
