Need Help deciding what/how to eat.....

I really don't know what to do. I really can't afford to pay for anything, like weight watchers or stuff like that. When I lost the 30 pounds earlier this year, I didn't feel like I was losing like I should be. Mainly I think because I was starving myself. Which seems to happen a lot after I start going to the gym. Any opinions would be very appreciated! Thanks!

Do you have a TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) chapter near you?

Well, an idea is that if you think WW might work for you, check out the Weight Watchers Followers board here on iVillage. They are very helpful women and there's tons of information to get you started. I believe if you search you can even find a link to make your own points finder, which is super helpful. Also, check out www.dlwz.com . I believe this is the site that was made up by a WW follower and she has all kinds of points information for restaurants and such and it's pretty helpful.

I completely understand about the $$, and with buying so many more healthful foods and leaner meat choices I am spending more on groceries now than I did buying junk and eating fast food, so I still don't have the extra $$ to spend to pay for a program, especially one where my food isn't provided :). I personally count calories. I find it easier than points for the most part and it has worked very well for me. I've even managed to come up with several mini meal combinations that equal aruond 250 to 300 calories and this allows me to just eat something quick without having to calculate everything, since I already know the calorie count. To track your calories you can try www.fitday.com to log the information, or, just a plain old pen and piece of paper. Learn the basics (like average calorie count for fruits, veggies, meats, dairy, etc.) and it won't be too hard after a while.

Good luck!

Staci

Online diets (and online WW's) are usually cheaper so you might want to look into those.. or if you like you can post a typical day and we can offer suggestions?

Finding something is really the most difficult part is it? Best of luck Tami.. I know you can find something and stick to it.. you already lost a lot of weight and worked so hard for it and you just have to continue

Yes, Weight Watchers is expensive and you have to find time to attend meetings. Goodness forbid you miss a meeting then it's double to cost. I use an online service that is 9$ a month. It is in my budget and my life is a little simpler. Let me know if you want the name of the website.

I noticed that girly mentioned ebay has the kits. If you want to do the WW thing and need a kit I have one you can have. I will not use it. I even have several...HEE HEE...introduction books. It also has the points/exercise calculator. I will send you some of the other stuff I bought over the years from WW. Let me know and I will put it in the mail.

I'm sorry I have taken so long to write back....been in a funk, and I am sure it has a lot to do with the fact that I am eating so horribly bad. And the fact that I want to cry, because I have gained 11 pounds!!! In just a short amount of time. We ate out WAY to much this week, and a lot of that is because I don't have an eating plan to have as a guide. So, if you ladies will PLEASE send me the WW stuff, I am going to do it!!! And I really could use more, all I have is the points slider and the introduction book. Not much. If anyone has any weight watchers stuff they would be willing to send me, I would greatly appreciate it, just email me and I will send you my mailing address back. I am not quite comfortable posting it for everyone to see. pinkhoodie@hotmail.com

Thanks! You ladies are AWESOME!!
